As deals keep falling from units selling for more than I think is fair I have one last in the hopper. The unit is new and it has a MSRP
B-4 freight and dealer prep (2000.00 and 500.00) of 40,758.00 and the sale price after being marked down once is $29,995
Is this the bottom of the barrel? What do they have in it to work with? Do you think I can get them to give the prep and some hitch work?
thanks to all !!

The one great truism is that nobody sells at a loss; at least not for long.

Sure dealers get stuck with a dud or guess wrong on a trade but it is rare.

Dealer will sell for less margin but they have to make money. If a dealer turns you down, you are below his bottom price.

Nothing really complicated to it.

Some dealers need or want less margin. Maybe they are smaller and leaner, maybe they do not have the service capabilities or a host of other reasons.

It is true that some people save 30% some save 40% but there is no way to tell how inflated the asking price was.

In the end the deal has to be right for you. Can you afford it, can you tow it, does your spouse like the floor plan. If not pass it buy, if yes make an offer.

Agree. You either love it enough to pay a premium to get it or you don't.

You could always take the gamble and buy the new one and chance getting more for your current one. We did that with the move from our HTT to the TT....however, we were more than pleased with the price on our new one and we had no problem handling both as long as it didn't drag on, which it didn't. We had a couple of stressful weeks, but we got a great price for our HTT...only $500 less than we asked, and everything worked out fine. But know going in that it's chancy. What are you buying and what are you selling?? Have you checked the NADA price for your current TT....list only the year, make and model....no options. It will give you Low Retail and Average Retail....that's about where you should be with pricing your current one if you sell it yourself.

Your the only one that knows if it's a good deal. If your TT is worth more than 4k to you then I'd walk away. There's 1000's of RV's out there for sale. If they want to play hardball then play it back.

This!

The entire deal has to work for you, your wallet and your head. If it doesn't work then there will be one that will.

I was told by the SM that the unit has been there longer than the owner like to see as he is paying "flooring" on it.
Do not like the trade offer and If I sell it privately it may be gone then what? If they won't budge on the trade price or the sales price of the new on we may not have a deal anyway.
Offer new unit $29995.00 Trade $4000.00 I want to borrow $2300.00
Difference of $3000.00
Is this a dooable deal?

So right now you're about 25% discount. Is this THE PERFECT trailer?? So if it's really right for your family, that price is in budget, everything is perfect, then I'd say ask for the WDH to be thrown in and start camping. Sometimes you just pay a bit more for the right one. Don't worry about the percentage if everything else is good. Are you totally comfortable with the dealer?? Have you spent an hour or two just sitting in the trailer, going through the motions of it actually being yours?? Go back, spend some time, take a swing at including the hitch and go for it. Oh, BTW, see if you can get that dealer prep knocked off. Any idea how long this unit has been on the lot?? Could be to your advantage as the dealer is paying for that trailer every day it sits. Let us know.

My 2014 was marked at $42k, walked out for $28.5k with Equal-i-zer 10k hitch. It was the best price I could find and the dealer would not go a penny lower. I don't know if I see all the way to $25k.

Forgot to mention it is a 2014 new and the sales manager said it has a second mark down to($29995.00) This unit is discontinued and can not get a 2015.

It depends on how much you're willing to pay and how much you want this trailer! You've deemed several to be too high, and the RV sector seems to be selling their inventory so they don't have to go so low...

Good luck with your decision. If I really wanted to get out this summer, I'd ask myself how much "winning" was worth to me...

Agree. You should get 30 - 35% off MSRP, whatever fictional number that is. $25,000 sounds good to me. Our Rockwood 2604 had an MSRP over $32,000 and we paid $20,000 and a few pennies. Certainly ask for some throw-ins, they don't cost the dealer what you'd be paying and the worst that can happen is they'll say no.
