Huge Hellwig Disappointment!

Took this afternoon to install my Big Wig, Hellwig rear stabilizer bar on my 2006 Dodge, 2500 Diesel.

Unfortunately, nothing fits!

The box says it is for a 03008 5.9L truck

The small parts box within the main box says the same thing:

But the saddles to go over the axle do not fit. One leg is supposed to go over the center section casting and the other on the axle. But it will only go over the cast center section. The other leg hangs in free air

I could modify this saddle bracket by cutting one side to fit the center section so the other leg would contact the axle tube, but it gets worse.

The "U-Plate" hole spacing does not match the saddle bracket or the U-Bolt:

It will be interesting to see how quickly this gets resolved. Sure hope I don't have to send the whole thing back!

Sorry to hear about the Hellwig Anti Sway Bar shipping of the wrong parts issues. I guess we were lucky for our 2012 F350 FORD all the correct parts came and the install Instructions and overall install was easy and WOW the improvement over the stupid flimsy Ford Anti Sway Bar was well beyond our expectations. Anti Sway now matches that of our 2000 F350 FORD...which had real steel in the stock bar.

If you get all the right stuff from Hellwig....you won't be disappointed!!!

I Just installed the Hellwig on my 99 3500 a couple of weeks ago. Other than I thought there instructions kind of sucked, could hardly read the small print on some of the pics, etc. I ended up using the stock inner frame brkts & bolts, they were bigger & easier to keep in place. I think they could have sent larger bolts & longer would have been better.
However after all the PITA installation, I can say that it was definitely worth it! Made a big difference hauling my 1050S over the stock bar. Sorry about all your hassles, apparently I was fortunate to at least get the right parts in the box!

One more 'good boy' pat for Roadmaster -- an excellent product and good CS.

Installed them on my 2003 GMC right after I bought it ... gave me years of service. Removed them when I sold that truck, and am getting ready to modify it (I hope) to install it on my new Chevy 2500HD...

Took one trip to the west without it - Rockies - new truck ran fine, no issues, but did miss that anti-sway factor on the winding roads and turns ... it's not so much I felt better with it on (Drove that GMC many times on Rockies and other mountain areas), but didn't actually notice how much difference it makes until driving a truck without one. That's when you really notice the change.

2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad cab diesel SRW short bed. Bought the Hellwig before our 8,000 mile trip. Did not fit at all b/c of our after market HD hitch (I'm going by memory here and DH is asleep).

There was nothing in the literature that said anything at all about this and we did research it.

All I know is that after many calls to Hellwig it was confirmed that it won't work with an after market hitch and we had to ship it back at our expense. It cost us a $100 shipping and ??? for the insurance. it was a real PITA. Still waiting for time and money to install a Roadmaster.

Oh, and the shipping from whatever co. we bought it from was ridiculously slow - like weeks. Can't remember all the details but I believe that the seller was waiting on the factory to send them one. Took numerous calls to Hellwig to get it sent. I could have driven out there and back twice from NY for the time it took. What a hassle all around.

Finally got my Hellwig "Big Wig" sway bar installed. It was shipped with the wrong axle brackets and the wrong bushings straps. I called Hellwig and they sent me a box of parts...The correct bushing straps but the same axle brackets. I called again and this time they sent the correct axle brackets!

Only took 20 minutes to install. SOOOOOO much better side to side sway control. Should have done this years ago. Highly recommended

Hellwig is infamous for not putting the right parts in the box. With this company you need to take time to check out the kit before starting the installation process.

Hellwig stands apart in their lack of concern for kitting things properly. Fortunately I have not seen their level of failure with any other manufacturer of aftermarket kits. Be glad you are doing it yourself as I would not want to be paying shop time to install one of their kits that is missing parts or has the wrong parts included.

You will soon forget any problems you had when you take your first drive, it was by far the best modification we made to the old weak framed Dodge. Ours is a 2004.5.

Kevin at Hellwig got back to me today and looking at the pictures I sent them it appears the incorrect brackets made it into my box of parts. He is shipping out the correct brackets tomorrow. Let's hope there are no other hicups.

Sorry to hear you were shipped the wrong parts. I just installed a 7265 on my truck about a month ago without any problems. I am sure they will help you through this.

are you sure you are installing it right?

I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right. I'm pretty mechanically inclined. One of the pictures shows the saddle and the "D" Bushing clamp. It is obvious that these two items are miss-matched as the U-Bolt would not mate them together.

And the saddle clamp if I just install them on the axle tube places them too far apart for the sway bar to be mounted to them.

Will need to see that Hellwig says on Monday. I left them a voice mail and a couple of emails.
