Anyone with a hybrid camp in Louisiana summers? In our search for a travel trailer my wife has found a couple of hybrid floor plans she likes but I can't imagine the sleeping areas would stay cool...

Hybrids truly shine off the grid with Pugz. Bunk fans on, cross breezes, and not cooking in a tin can.

Have to second the Reflectix and PUGS. We just came back from Canyon Lake, TX. On Saturday the temp hit 102. The Trailer never got warm with reflectix in the windows and the PUGS on top. And as others have said, both of those items are also a big help in letting you sleep past sunrise.

Yep, cut reflectix to fit in all three windows of each bunk end, and covered the tops with solar blankets. Made all the difference when in SC, Tenn and Arkansas this year.

Reflectix

My wife got a role of Reflectix from Home Depot and cut it to fit within the bunk ends between the canvas and the screen portion. This is the same material that is used to make the sun barriers that goes in the dash of a car during the summer.

With a combo of the Reflectix and PUGS, it makes it alot more liveable, plus it does a good job of blocking the AM sun so you're not up at the crack of dawn.

We never had a problem here in West TN with our heat and humidity, but a trip to Vicksburg was a real pain. The difference was the complete lack of shade. If you camp in places with any decent shade, you should be fine - Pop Up Gizmos are a must-have. If no shade, it's tough to get it below 85 in the 100 degree/100% days. Once the sun goes down, our ROO cooled down nicely....until sun up. Completely agree that if you're ordering, invest in the 15K A/C....don't believe it's much more in $$, but a big difference if you're out in the blazing sun. We had the 13.5K and that was out only cooling problem. And the fact that you can camp year-round is really nice...you'll love the fall camping especially.

When we've camped in hot places (Nevada desert!) night time wasn't a problem with the hybrid, even at 90+. During the day though the AC works hard. We don't camp in that kind of heat often enough to want/need the PUGs but I would get them if we did.

Popup Gizmos (PUGs) are the answer. www.popupgizmos.com

I love mine! Also, if buying new, upgrade to the 15k AC for the south. My 13.5k works well with 1 bunk end that condensation appears on the outside of uninsulated parts.
