I think Interstate makes a decent battery. But I probably would have asked the question before I made the purchase. I've heard Interstate makes a lot of OEM batteries for new cars. I replace my batteries every 5 years in all my vehicles. I always tell the Dealer to replace with OEM. They did a good job for 5 years, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I bought 2 new batteries for the TC last Feb. Walked into the Interstate store but the guy, even after going thru his book could not tell me the Amp Hours of any of his batteries. Then told me a Group 27 is just as good as a 31.

I went across the street to the Trojan Dealer. Walked out with 2 12 volt flooded cell SCS225 (Superior Cycling Series) at 130 AH each. I also prefer 2 12 volt over 2 6 volt. If one battery fails out in the boontoolies my trip is not ruined. JMHO

I bought two Trojan type 27-AGM batteries back in 2006 and they are still performing fine.

Their literature from year 2006 gives CCA rating for all of their Marine/RV batteries, including the deep cycle batteries!

Lifeline is likely the gold standard for AGM and you can drain 80% of their charge and still expect around 600 cycles....which is a hell of a lot of weekend truck camper trips.

They do say for repetitive deep cycles (more than 50% DoD) you need to recharge at 0.2C or greater (20 amp charger for a 100AH battery minimum)

Most of them are hybrids. Not that they are bad but they are what they are.
I use Deka Intimidator AGM grp 31 ,deep cycle and its probably really a hybrid at 64 lbs.
The plates are thicker in a true deep cycle . This link shows the grp 31 at 100 lbs.
BTW, if you use two 6 v batts, its not a bad idea to also have a 12 v in the the bank in case you develop a problem in one of the 6v batts while boondocking far away from help.

Since you've indicated that you dry camp mostly, I would get a "TRUE DEEP CYCLE" battery & not the dual purpose. AGM or SLA, your choice. two 12volt or two 6volt.
Most folks advise 6-volt in series.
I'm an expert in only one field....I believe it's somewhere in Kansas.

It's a dual purpose battery, and not really as effective as a true deep cycle.

That's a marine battery not a true deep cycle. I just replaced my batteries with Trojan deep cycle batteries so far they have been good , they are about twice the price however but we do a lot of dry camping so it was worth it for me, if you on hookups all the time no need to spend big bucks on batteries. these new ones are much heaver than the old interstates I had. I am guessing more lead equals larger plates better charge and discharge cycles.
