Jayco's new trailer line up

Jayco just brought out a new true 3 slide trailer. It's 39 feet long- has a residential king size bed option- residential tub/sit down shower- 3 exterior storage areas- hidden propane tanks- washer/dryer prep and 50 Amp service.

It's called the Eagle Premiere Model 338RETS. Really nice looking trailer.

Happy trails,

I just find it hard to comprehend towing a 39' TT with anything SRW or DRW. The mere fact that it is 39' is enough. Couple that with my 22' truck and it's 61' OAL. Can't fit into any of the CG's we go to in Oregon. That's only 4' shorter than the Oregon limit. I think if it were me I would reassess my priorities and get a 3/4-1 ton truck and a 5th wheel.

Well guys if what you want is something lighter- 1 foot shorter- Front diamond plate- then take a look at the StarCraft Autumn Ridge 346RESA (Hard Side) trailer. Last spring we almost bought a 2013 model BUT:
It didn't have hard sides (only aluminum) no skylight in the kitchen- no roll away cabinet- (shower had cheap plastic not glass like the 2014)- didn't have the main sliding glass entry door with regular door to the bedroom....
Again if Jayco (StarCraft) had this model available we may have bought.
Jayco always seems to be a little behind the others.

Happy trails,

Are you calling fiberglass laminated walls, HARD sides??? If so, many of us won't own those because of all the delamination problems. I'm glad the Jay Flight series has stuck to tried and true standard built walls with stick and tin construction. I won't buy any trailer with glued together walls that come apart from the sun, heat, or even water making the glue fail. To expensive to repair and I see more delaminated units than none delaminated units. I have even seen brand new units on the lot have delamination. Not confidence inspiring to say the least.

The Autumn Ridge series is owned by Jayco and based off of the Jay Flight line. Both are great trailers but previously, Starcraft only offered a 1 year warranty opposed to the Jayco premium brand 2 year warranty. While most of the floorplans are clones of the Jayco Jay Flight line, Starcraft does change things up with different interiors, features, and even window placement.

Happy trails,

Thanks Bill. I hadn't seen that model. It's in the ballpark of what we're looking for...and it's got the hardsides which is a plus. What we really liked about the Jayco (and this one) was the opposing superslides in the livingroom and the big back window. Those are two have to haves.

After being cramped up in the 2700BH for the last 6 years (and now that the grandkids don't go as much) we want something that feels (and is) open. I got a steal on the StarCraft when I bought it and I've wished it had at least one slideout ever since. But it's served it's purpose.

We were pretty excited when we saw this floor plan in a TT because we were thinking were gonna have to dump a lot more cash in a fifth wheel to get what we wanted.

Tomman, I think youโ€™re right about the size of this unitโ€ฆat least as far as what weโ€™re looking for. I really like the layout of this 338RETS and itโ€™s a beautiful camper. I also know you can never have too much space, but unlike WE3ZS we donโ€™t travel with a heard of teenagers. Most of the time (unless itโ€™s at the seasonal site) itโ€™s just her and I or sometimes a couple of the grandkids. The other half and I have been discussing this unit (ever since she set me straight about it) and itโ€™s almost more than we need.

The unit we looked at a year ago (and I confused with this one) was the Jay Flight 33RLDS. It doesnโ€™t have the aesthetics of the 338RETS (or the huge bathtub, the big slide in the bedroom, the ward in the nose, the W/D hookup, or as much exterior storage), but the living room/kitchen has the same layout and options, it has a small slideout in the bedroom with a ward/linen storage unit, itโ€™s a 1,000 to 1,500 lbs lighter depending on options, 5โ€™ shorter, and has a sticker price of between $10 to $15K less depending on options and where itโ€™s located. From what I can tell, the extra 5โ€™ on the 338 is in the bedroom and maybe a little in the bathroom. The living room/kitchen looks identical minus the nicer finish. Itโ€™s obviously not the same TT, but itโ€™s close enough it made me think it was (brain damage and old age accounted for).

Thereโ€™s no doubt in my mind this 338RETS is worth the difference in price because of everything it has the 33RLDS doesnโ€™t. But $10 to $15K is a lot of diesel fuel thatโ€™ll take us a lot of places. Besides that, compared to our old 2700bh StarCraft weโ€™re going to upgrade, the 33RLDS would be like moving into a barn.

I spent some time look'n and think'n........ this one has a lot of things that I don't want or need. One is the size, heck in Florida it is hard enough to get my current TT in and out.
Secondly I really think the TV is far to high and I would need to get teh recliners as opposed to looking at it side ways.
I like a separate toilet space.
I like more counter space and cabinet space in th cooking area.
I think the hidden tanks is okay but right now the white plastic cover takes the stones and road debris, it would be better if the hidden tank thing was made of diamond plate.
I wish someone would rid us of the antiquated bath sink and faucet and also the shower valve and hand set.
The cabinets in the master bedroom are small and useless. I like our current lay out that allowed me to transform the tv are to shelves for books (I don't do much TV)
The bed doesn't have any shelves for stuff along side of bed like a light for reading or a clock or bottle of water.
The dining area has lost the drawers that would hold all our wine and cooking things from waffle irons to toaster.

I am sure I can find more.

FYI - someone earlier mentioned model numbers not meaning so much anymore. The model number actually relates to square feet of living space in the rig now. Much better than the model number telling the length of the unit, IMO.

One grey water tank is for the kitchen, other is for the bathroom and w/d hookup.

Beautiful rig.

Wow looks like maybe I'll be look'n at a New one in a couple years. I hope they evolve to what our old units were (322 FKS) as I still like the layout in ours. Hope the Cougar is working out for you.I might go look at this new one in Tampa in Feb. Maybe not because as with you the itch starts and then there's no stopping it.

Tom, There's a RV show in Tampa next February ?? We will be in Tampa the last week of January and then in North Ft. Myers at Upriver Resort the month of February. If you want to get together at the show just tell me the dates and place and we'll meet up.
I showed the wife all the photos of the new Jayco 338RETS and she doesn't like the kitchen at all. A big selling feature of the Cougar we bought was the kitchen lay out. She like lots of counter space. I guess the 2007 Jayco 322FKS we had spoiled her. Anyway if momma's happy I'm happy.:B
