Loaded question

I probably should not even ask it, but ...

I would like to hear some comparisons (construction, quality, durability) between Rockwood Mini Lite TT and Jayco Jay Feather. The specific models I am interested in are the Mini Lite 2306 and the Jay Feather 19BH.

I really like the Murphy bed in the Rockwood. It is also longer so it is heavier (not a plus). If I got a bigger tow vehicle I would look seriously at the 2504S.

Along with construction, access to the fridge, bathroom and anything else you'll need to get to with slide in is important for rest stops and loading, unloading at the house. For me, a full 80" bed is important. Stand up room in the tub/shower is a must. For towing stability, I prefer a trailer with axles well aft of center and little opportunity for added weight aft of the axles. Some trailers tow well. Some are on the verge of sway by design to achieve a lighter tongue weight. Fresh water tank should be over or slightly forward of the trailer's axles. Check access of shore power, water and sewer hookups. Some are in very odd locations.

I am not sure about the Jayco, but I know the Rockwood Mini Lites have a walk on roof, thus the rear ladder option.

I have a "Lite" TT and one of the most noticeable things is you cannot walk on the roof. Sound silly until you need to check the AC or try to clean the roof from a ladder on the side.

Forest River offers the second year for $150. I just bought bought one and got a two year warranty. I was also told that if you go to the rally the company offers in the fall they will make repairs even after the warranty expires.

Just keep in mind that the `lite' models must eliminate something to make them `liter', `litter?' possibly strength, durability, other?

I'm not condemning all Rockwoods but my son has an 2008 ultra lite with soft floor problems. The luan/foam sandwich floor started out with a soft spot in front of the kitchen counter and has spread to the door area. NO, it has no water leaks, it's a deterioration of the foam and seems to be more common in lightweight sandwich style floors. He's now trying to sell it but everyone who looks at it notices the floor instantly and the price keeps dropping. Maybe they corrected this problem but he's not looking for another Rockwood. 🙂

I think both are about equally built. Whatever floor plan you prefer and your TV capacity in my opinion would be the deciding factor.
