Looking to downsize.

So, after years in a TT and now a 5th wheel, we are looking to downsize to a hybrid so we can travel around the state a bit. We are keeping the 5th wheel since we have it permanently on a lot. My problem is finding a nice used one in our area. How did you find yours? We are in the thumb part of Michigan and can't find anything.

Plenty of RV dealers in Port Huron, Lapeer, Flint, Imlay City, Marlette, Utica. Start with phone calls and let the dealers know you are interested in finding a used unit.

I found mine online, at a dealer's lot. We were in Florida at the time, camping in a beautiful state park. After a few weeks, though, we longed for an on-board bathroom. (We were in a PUP at the time.) I searched online and found a few hybrids and watched the videos and fell in love with my Kodiak 160SVT. I contacted the dealer and asked him questions about it.

As soon as we came back to Maryland, we drove up to his lot in PA and checked out the camper in person. It was/is perfect. To make a long story short, we bought it and have been thrilled. The dealer is reputable and fixed all sorts of minor problems, including changing the batteries, replacing all the tires, etc. We were able to negotiate on the price, too. It was a pleasant buying experience.

My husband passed away last year and the hybrid is still perfect for when I want to camp alone or with my grandchildren.

Good luck to you!

IMHO, finding a truly good used hybrid is hard. Because they require more maintenance, not many owners put in the time and effort.
