Yes, I have visited Portland, actually stayed for several months recovering from surgery. It is indeed weird beyond belief. I also know about the other motto: Where young people come to retire.

Portlanders seem to take pride in the weird characteristics including allowing freedom for people who want to live on the street. Some of those people are just kids going through a phase of rebellion. Sadly a great many of the street people are mentally ill and in need of help, which is not provided or available in Portland.

I live here in the Portland area and have all my life...has anyone here heard the saying "KEEP PORTLAND WEIRD"?....LOL? This has to top it off...it is off the charts, but...our RV homeless is why this happens...sad but we also had 2 people die in a RV van fire also this week...look, I am all for survival, but it is crazy up in here. It is an issue that takes away from our core value as RVer's and it hurts us on all sides. I will say this..the homeless is an issue, we have to do better, but what can we do?. I'm not sure if we are going to see tent cities and old **** RV's go away any time soon but this is now the norm. It is the mess(dirty campers) that they leave behind so much junk and trash which is disturbing...most of us would never do. Why? Mostly a disregard for anything and anyone? These people just don't care, someone else can clean it up is the norm..Just shaking my head, so sad this is where we are. Portland has been a meca for the homeless....this is what we get for allowing it to happen....it is shameless to the people who work and live here and are true to the RV lifestyle...please not another LA.

It’s probably not the drivers fault because there doesn’t appear to be any signs stating the limited clearance.:R

what does the entrance to this pedestrian bridge look like? All the ones I've experienced are designed to exclude any sort of vehicle, with sharp turns or concrete / steel columns in the way.

As a testament to how bored I am I had a look.

Here is the bridge.

West side. It looks like one could easily drive around the bollard.

East approach. Missing bollard, could drive around easily.

West side view looking back down to street in last photo and onto pedestrian bridge.

It looks like you drive up on there pretty easy. I am guessing that will change.

It's right here if you want to look. I don't see much for barriers.

On second look, there's no reason if it made it that far, it would hit there and get ripped off the truck. Clearance should/is the same across the whole span.
That looks like someone hauled it up there and dumped it off the truck.

I had the same thought but figured the suspension may have bounced just enough to finally catch, or they steered slightly to one side. Once a corner caught hold it was done, I can’t see how they could “unload” it like that on purpose. It hit hard.

Yeah, we'll make it, just giver!
At least it appears the camper wasn't tied down or it would have made more of a mess of the fence, camper or both.
