Mammoth owners ... how big is your truck?

There seems to be a lot of random comments about how big of a truck people need for Mammoth. Seems like those who don’t have one are sure you need a 4500/5500 truck.

So, if you have one, what do you have it on and how’s the sizing: just right, too big, or wish you had a bigger one?

My truck order has been delivered. I'll be picking it up from Vegas to drive it down to Douglas in Bakersfield. Then up to Portland to inspect the camper and have it shipped down to Douglas. This is what I'll be rolling in... F550

Well, I own a 2018 Host Mammoth sitting on a 2015 F350 dually, 4door, short turning radius long bed. Have upper/lower stable loads, air bags and remote control, Ford bed liner, billsten shocks.
Camper was hit by a massive hail storm this summer, have to get it down to Pueblo to get hail damage repaired. Truck also, but have a couple of estimates for it.
Truck carries it fine. All I have to say!!

I stand corrected. It is 14k GVWR.
But I am not only the one who can read, but I can also understand technical aspect.
Even my 9900lb differential might be close to max, at 2900lb per tire x4 = 11,600lb, so I do have good safety margin in crucial part.
Than again, the 6500lb camper weight happen after we sold the house and had lot of stuff in the camper. That is not going to happen again, even the truck carried it just fine.

You may want to look at your door sticker again. A 2017 F350 DRW has a 14,000 LB GVWR.

The math is 7800 truck + 6500 TC = 14300 total.
Still good distance to 14,900 GVWR

... and you are still over published door sticker GVWR when loaded. If it wasn’t for British Columbia’s laws and the close proximity of it to my home, this would not even be a concern as long as I was able to stay within axle and wheel capacities.

My 2017 F350 dually Supercab is 7800lb with me and DW + small stuff in the cabin (less tailgate, but that is about 40 lb)
Even with 6500 lb camper load my 9900lb rear axle had some to spare.
Aluminium makes noticeable difference.
