Can anyone with a 2001-2005 Chev dually diesel towing about a 5500 lb dry TT, tell me about how many mpg they get?

"Gas mileage while towing" is an oxymoron LOL

I had a similar rig and it got about 11 towing. I never tow over 65 mph. When towing, I usually tow by RPM more than MPH. Basically, I'm looking for that sweet spot where the truck just runs well -- you'll hear it. It's not lugging down but it's not inching across the highway at snail pace either. For level road, that's usually about 63-65 for my current setup of a Ram 2500 and 10K TT.

My 2009 Ford F250 Crew cab, gets 16 empty, 11 at 65 pulling the 22 foot fun finder, and piss poor 5 to 8 at 75. Speed kills mileage more then anything. Slow down, your RVing and should not be in a hurry.

My 2006 Duramax tells me it gets about 19 mpg highway empty with a light foot and about 12 mpg pulling my trailer. How heavy my foot is when I drive makes the biggest difference.

Gas towing any high walled RV 8-10mpg. 3/4+ Ton diesel towing any high walled RV 12-13mpg. 4000 pounds or 12000 pounds, its the (poor) aerodynamics that makes them all the same.

My LBZ gets 21 mpg on the highway not towing and with the Puma at about 10K lbs I get around 12 mpg

With my 2003 LB7 dually I got about 11-12 towing, 14 without TT.

I have a rack and 2 large toolboxes on all the time, so it is about as aerodynamic as a brick.

With my '07 LBZ, I get a full 2 MPG less than the LB7 counterpart, driving under identical situations.

How fast? That makes a huge difference. 12 to 13 depending on how fast.
