My new Wolf Creek 840 Modifications

I guess I should share some of my mod ideas here.

2015 Wolf Creek 840.
problem was with the mid bathroom and Refreg I really can't find a way to mount the TV so I can view it from the dinette. So I did something different, Besides, who wants to lay in bed to watch TV?

Here is a picture of it folded up.

Here is the wiring.

The TV only weighs 8 lbs so I hope this will hold it. I might change the top of the mount to a plate if I feel I need it.

I ran 2 new coax cables from the TV area to the DS forward cabinet where the TV antenna jack is. if you pull the jack out of the cabinet there is open connectors for TV2 and TV3. I wired TV2 up direct to the TV. the other cable i remove the SAT cable on back of jack and used a barrel connector to connect to that.
I also ran 12V for the TV and HDMI cable for the satellite receiver through the wire loom. I will place the sat receiver in the top cabinet over the sink (still need to run AC for that).

Here is the mount I used. you have to cut around 1" off the bottom of the extruded arm to make the 19" TV fit under the cabinet in the 840.

The wiring runs through the cabinet as shown above, than goes through the 2 layers below the cabinets and comes out right next to the TV mount.

So now I have TV when running on batteries, and if I want to turn on an inverter (or on 120 V) I will have satellite TV.
I plan to buy a radio that has blue tooth input (so wife can play her itunes on it) and AUX inputs in the rear so I can send the satellite receiver output to it (we listen to siruis on Dish a lot).

Pretty much the same thing happened to ours. I tried to screw it back on and found that it was held on by one thread (and that one was cross-threaded). I was able to screw it on straight with a little clear epoxy on the threads, and it's been fine since. Eventually, though, it will get a new, better quality faucet.

My first step to bleed the air is turn on the pump, then open the low point drains. That gets most of the air out, then there's only a small burst of air out of the faucets (usually hardly any).

RE: wet bathroom floor, and wall, and everything.... I hate it too, so I bought a huge microfiber towel at Walmart and wipe down the entire bathroom (where it's wet) after I use the shower. I also take the shower curtain and drape it over the commode to keep part of the bathroom dry. The shower curtain is big enough to pull it to the side over the commode.

Going over less than perfect roads will create lateral forces with the weight of the TV... I'd recommend a plate in place of those small washers. THe cabinets are mostly hollow between the outer and inner skin, which is just 1/4 (or thinner) plywood.

It will easier to be pro-active now, rather than fix the cabinet when the bottom pulls out and the TV ends up in the kitchen sink, LOL

kind of falling behind here on my thread of updates.
anyway the wetbath floor. tracking sand into it, scratching bathroom fiberglass floor, or going into bathroom with socks on to find floor is wet. Solved:

This is made with a deck wood named Ipe. they say glue don't hold so good so I put this together with counter sunk brass screws, than sealed everything. I also have those clear bathtub anti-slip things under it to keep it off direct fiberglass contact.

Nice truck! Actually 865 Ft lbs with the Aisin. 4 speed to 6 speed tranny will make trips more relaxing too.

The color matches better. Sure is nice to be back in a dually. and going from 610 Ft lbs of torque to 860 is fun.

This weekend I installed the solar system. I went with the Bogart solar charge controller. the 840 had the wires come in from the roof, pass through the cabinet behind the wire panel, than down to under the sink, where they continue to the battery box. First I removed the extra wire. I bet I remove 3 feet from behind the switch panel and 5 feet from under the sink.

Here is the charge controller mounted under the sink.

waiting for the panels that were due on Saturday FedEx truck, I sat in RV and watched TV for maybe 3 hours Friday night to suck down the batteries so I had a load for testing. (camper has been unplugged since Thursday night).

FedEx pulled up late Saturday afternoon with my two 100w amazon panels. By the time I completed the roof top wiring I was in the shade so I really could not see them work on Saturday.
I finished the job and programmed the Bogart 2030RV.

Sunday I got up just as the sun was coming over the hill so I could watch things working. Battery (Two 27 series 90ah AGM's) was at 70% charge before sun hit panels. within 2 hours I was seeing this 11.6a Solar charge (this number is before my .5a parasitic load comes out of the solar current.)

At 13.8 V

I guess its working right. It was 50% clouded all day as the cumulus clouds passed by. By time I was back in shadows Bogart 2030rv showed 100@ charged.

Guess its working ๐Ÿ™‚

I will shoot some picture of the roof after I get to tie down the wire loom I have the wires run through.

for $69.00 this looks like it could have come with camper.
It's not as high as factory faucet but we don't have room to carry a pot big enough to need that high faucet anyway. This will be just fine.

I need to do this also. I HATE the factory double handle faucet. Due the spout being overly loose, I don't know how many times I've or the wife have bumped it or something fell over only to have water go everywhere. Single handle is the way to go. Same with the cheesy bath faucet they give you.

Incidentally, the seal around my kitchen sink to the counter has already separated. Something to keep an eye on.

today I switched out 10 of the factory LED overhead bulbs with These
its not dark yet but the 3500K already looks better than those bright bleached white ones that came with the camper.
I have 11 bulbs in the camper, so I did not switch the bathroom.

a simple light meter on the phone showed they are a little brighter.
A laser thermometer gun shows they are not as hot as stock (which really don't get hot either) but the big things when I turn on the light now the digital antenna TV signal don't go away ๐Ÿ™‚

I figure if they didn't work out I can always put them in my 5er.

Here is a couple I already did but forgot to post pictures.
Radio I had laying around the garage.

We use the top bunk as storage. This view is bunk folded down to show location of Harbor Freight Motion Sensor light. This model uses AA batteries and seems to last pretty long.

Bogart TM-2030-RV, with black "plastic paint" on the mounting box.

This is showing me that the on-board charger really is not the hot setup for charging AGM's. Now I throw an AGM charger on them every 2 weeks or so until I can order my Solar setup. (middle of June the off grid camping starts)

today I just installed a cutoff switch that is no longer supply with the Wolf Creeks.

We did this mattress upgrade a couple years ago and decided on the 8 inch thick mattress, too. One of the best mods we've ever made next to solar.

both stock and replacement are 8" mattresses. I have not slept on it yet, but it feels nice laying there.
We have a 2" memory foam topper in our 5th wheeler, and a full blown memory foam mattresses in the house.

We are still running the fantastic fan during the day to suck the smell out. The smell is not very much this morning after sitting sealed up all last night.

The wife just found a water proof mattresses protector we are going to put on it to try out (left over from a different project)

Here is the one we bought

Daughter graduates from Collage tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚ so no camping this weekend.

Very nice! What is the height difference between the stock mattress and your upgraded mattress? Did you lose any clearance? What is the comfort difference between the two?
