NATCOA?

What the heck is that? I got my latest e-mail issue of Truck Camper Magazine and there was an article in there about NATCOA and how the member is free now.

Never knew it cost anything because I'm not and never have been a member (like I'm not a Good Sam Member either). Never have been one to pay for or want a membership in anything, Amy and I are loners.

Guess if you like campground camping and people next door, it's all good but we bought a TC to camp remote not in a campground. In fact, the only time we do stay in any campground is on a planned long distance trip and then it's one night.

So anyway, what is NATCOA?

I'm not sure what people were posting. Wayne edited me more than Paul - Maybe he was worried I was going to live up to my name? Although I have owned RV's since 1988, I did not get a truck camper until 2012 and may have missed some of the off-color back and forth.

Over a decade ago, many of the members were also posters here including who I’d say who was the creator. About a decade ago the directors decided to do what they wanted instead of what the membership wanted. You might guess what was going on politically about 10 years ago.

In my opinion, the best part of the group was that manufacturers could post answers there. They aren’t allowed on RV.NET.

The negative was that it turned into a group that only wanted people from one political leaning. Like many boards, the people running it became too big for their britches and started heavily moderating anyone who didn’t agree with them. The result was there were more posts complaining about the board than about truck campers.

It might have had a clensing in a decade, but maybe not.

It was possible to post there without being a paying member, but you were limited to only five posts a day. I posted there a few times.

Now it looks like they are going to be Facebook Only. Since I will only join Facebook after Hell freezes over, thaws out, and freezes over a second time, I won't be bothering with them any more.

there's a lot more to the story than the article gives you. Myself and JPonder were censored and barred from their site when we questioned their ethics and how they purposely and continuously broke the rules on this site

Natcoa vs rv.net

The above link has the name, etc of the founder of Natcoa and also
some other members who used to post there years ago.

It was always interesting and very informative.

I cannot remember the exact reason they fell out with the owners of
rv.net, it may have been over advertising? Maybe something to do with
Snowriver campers , also stick vs aluminium frames rings a bell ??

They all had some interesting posts at the height of the conflict on here.

That was a long time ago, maybe some other old timers can get the story
right???
