New 2013 Eagle Cap 1160 to Western Australia

New Eagle Cap 1160 leaves Port of Tacoma today via ship to Fremantle, Western Australia. My couch is on it's way. This is my third Truck Camper in 11 years. First was a Small Pine Mountain Popup, no toilet, but on my F250 4x4, we could go just about anywhere. Had a gaucho sofa, which I really liked, but kitchen was cramped. One had to sit while the other dressed or cooked, but had a great oversized Cabover Queen sized bed with under bed storage. I liked, wife always complained, too cramped, it was.
We are both looking forward to rear slideout sofa and floor space of 7' x 4' in middle when new Eagle Cap 1160 has both slideouts open. Even has an entry full height wardrobe & drawer. My other thing we both are looking forward to is the dry bath.
1160 with Ram 3500 DRW will have 3.5 inches each side of Fenders when load/unload,
Currently have 1.5 centimetres, less than 1 inch, interesting!
My only regret is have smaller wardrobe in Cabover of 1160 and put window on both sides. I get the no window side, makes her happy!
Next, what trailer to buy for the Toys!
Happy Camping.

Thanks for the heads up... on the hows and the costs.

Will you have to pay any taxes or registration when it gets there?

I remember buying your new truck and having it shipped was very expensive. And you picked it up in Sydney more than 3000 miles from Perth.

Not many people here could (or at least would) go to these lengths and expenses for a new TC.

Since this is your third TC you know what you are doing....

thank you for sharing with us.

Hi All,

Camper takes 6 weeks from Tacoma, Via Marinzillo, Noumea, New Zealand, Brisbane, Sydney,
Melbourne, Fremantle/Perth, Australia.

Camper is shipped on a Roll On Roll Off, Willenus Wilhelmsen ship, and sit on a low shipping trailer
called a Maffey. Camper is secured via straps, securing it via the tie down anchor points. Camper is on Maffey trailer, below deck, and trailer in chained down. There is a Willenus/2wgolbal.com ship
leaving North America for for Perth/Fremantle, every 8 days, mostly with heavy mining equipment.

Very expensive, half way round the world, USD$13,400. But clean, safe, no salt, below deck, purified air, no rust. Too big for Sea Container, which is 96" wide by 20' or 40' length, and definitely over height. Was USD$6,600 in 2011 for Adventurer 910fbs, 2ft shorter, 6 inches narrower than Eagle 1160.

It's been an easy wait... you still have your like knew truck camper on your new truck... you've been camping all winter (during our summer)

Hope to see some pictures of the new camper being unloaded... the shipping container or how they tie it down.

Congratulations! We too have a 2013 EC 1160. Your going to love it. This is our first TC...we sold a 30ft. Class-C Winnebago. No regrets!!! My wife said, "No couch, no TC." Glad we pulled the trigger on the 1160. We couldn't be happier as I am sure you will be too. I am sure you'll be anxious until it arrives. How long does it take to ship a TC to the Land Down Under???

Best of Camping to you guys!

Out of all the double slide out TCs I do like the EC 1160 the best. Its amazing how popular that sofa option has become. I would want the full cabover wardrobe. I dont care about having 2 windows up there. For me the extra storage makes up for the loss of one window. I would also order mine without the Heiki skylight. Too many problems reported by owners who have them. I'll stick with the Fantastic Fan. We also like our dry bath and could not go back to a wet bath. Enjoy your new TC and have fun!
