New Bigfoot models but not for Bigpeople

TCM just posted an interview with the Bigfoot RV president about some changes to their 2500 series. Looks good BUT.......

From what I see, none of their models- 2500 and 1500 TCs and their travel trailers have a (sleeping) bed longer than 74".

The single exception is their longest TT that has 80" Lucy and Ricky singles. That would be a big :R hit with SWMBO.

What gives? I am 1" longer than their beds and I will not sleep with my feet dangling.

Is everyone else getting shorter?

Have you asked Bigfoot what the actual length of the bed support is. Maybe you can fit in a longer mattress.

On our 5th wheel, the wife wanted a better mattress. We bought a longer one than was original. I extended the bed support at the foot.

On our TC we installed a smaller mattress and push it toward the foot. It's probably a 74". There's probably 6" at the head we fill with a couple of swim noodles to keep it in place.

Stick 4 inches of foam at the top of the mattress and your good to go. I wear 4E wide shoes, hard to find. That's life get over it.

I've noticed that as Northwood Manufacturing redesigns their RV's they update to the residential size queen beds.

I'm over 6' and have clearance issues in the Bigfoot even though I like their layout. I feel much more comfortable in the Northern Lite and would chose one over Bigfoot if I was looking for a fiberglass tub camper.

We go every February to the RV show in Seattle, to see what is new and and what has not changed even if we are not shopping for a camper. Sometimes there are innovative changes or accessories that can be incorporated into our camper, so I am always look at how the other guys do things. If anyone is interested in going to this show, I can send you a private link for half off pricing. We will most likely attend on Saturday, February 10th.

The industry even has a name for it: "travel queen". I had a 32' Airstream trailer with a huge bedroom, still had the travel queen.

I have a 1991 Six-Pac model 78S...The bed is a 3/4 full size. okay for one, Sardine Can for two. That is why we are probably going to do the same and go for a TT.

This one reason I'm steering away from Bigfoot. I do like Bigfoot and Northern Lite. I'm 6'6 with shoes on so I would have to go with a Northern Lite. Bigfoot needs to make some different molds and get the interior height to 6'8 and a real queen size bed. They are missing out on sales from us taller dudes. Northern Lite wet bathroom I think is only 74 inches tall so that would suck for us taller dudes too.

Yeah I am very aware of that. We would like to eventually go to a small TT since Cathy has very short legs and getting into the cabover isn't her favorite.

But nearly all short TTs have those sort-of midget beds. That alone may drive us to a short 5th where more have FULL size queen beds.

I believe they have been this size from day 1. Since they sell as many as they make, they aren't likely to spend big bucks for new molds.

Northern Lite is an alternative fiberglass camper with full queen size beds.
