Coming home from a camping trip at our local state park hubby was pulling the camper and coming up onto a ramp from another road and was waiting to merge and 2 vehicles slowed down to allow hubby to come into the lane when some lady in a older dodge ram 3500 swerved to avoid the slower vehicle and went onto the shoulder and hit the corner of the camper. it is a 2013 and we only have had it out 5 times. Anyone have an accident in their camper, can this be fixed?

with advice from our laywer we are going through our insurance company and paying our 250.00 deductible which we will get back later and it will speed up the process too. Found a local repair shop which services 3 area rv dealers so we are taking there tomorrow for estimate and repair, our insurance agent will meet there and discuss with the body place what needs to be fixed since they don't just cut a check.Hope to get it back in 3-4 weeks they said

I hope she has insurance and you have her information. She needs to contact her insurance co. ASAP. You have contacted yours, and even though hers will be the primary, your agent may be able to help you if you have problems.

Getting in an accident was in the back of my mind when we took our new TT out on its maiden voyage. fortunately for us we haven't had this occur yet. All the damage I've had on my various RVs has been of my own doing (like jacknifing my PU or backing my TT into tree branches).

I echo everyone else's recommendations. Funny thing is I sat at the dealership when signing the paperwork, and called my insurance company to make sure I was covered before I took the new TT home. I envisioned getting in an accident taking it home from the the dealership only to have the insurance company tell me it wasn't covered. That would be a huge investment right down the crapper!

As my salesman said, fiberglass bodies are easier to maintain but more expensive to repair. Make sure you get a place that specializes in fiberglass work.

I saw something similar being repaired while we were having work done at Lazy Days, so I'm sure this can also be repaired.

Like others have said, protect from further damage and cover up the hole.

sorry

as suggested, Gorilla tape and plastic.. ASAP

get your Tow Vehicle Inspected, Take a pic of the truck and trailer attached... so the insurance guy can relate how the TV could be effected. I know this sucks.. but do everything you can to have YOUR DEALER get involved... they have the most direct route to the factory for repairs... make sure its done right.

good luck

Sorry this happened. I would check your hitch where bolted to the truck and I would check to make sure wdh bars didn't get bent. I also would get a new ball on my hitch just for piece of mind, its probably fine but you never know. The camper should be repairable.

x2. I was rear ended with my cargo trailer in tow and insisted that the other insurance company paid not only for damage to the trailer but a full inspection of my truck hitch, reciever, bars, and truck rear end. About 2hrs shop rate labor to do an inspection. No damage found, as expected since it was a pretty mild shock, but non the less you don't want to have damage to the hitch reciever, etc. and have a problem later.

Never thought about that aspect, but is something that should be done and possibly even having alignment of the TV checked for the same reasons.

Worth at least trying to make a case for these with your insurance.

we covered it with a tarp and roofing tape which is super sticky did that since we have had a lot of rain lately and didn't want anymore damage.

we have insurance on both the truck and camper and will find out Tuesday about her insurance. you should have seen her truck.. it looked like her truck took the most hit, the radiator was knocked into the fan and had to be towed

the inside of the camper and the outside kitchen looked unscaved but jeff said it knocked the sink covers off into our bedroom from the hit. Truck is fine but we will have that checked out also along with the frame of the camper

I had a guy hit a tree and knock it down onto my trailer. Ny insurance guy said it would be best for me to deal with his insurance directly. I hind sight I should have had my insurance guy handle everything. Easier to go back to your insurance if something isn't fixed right.

Be sure to check the inside of the RV also. There may have been enough force to crack an interior wall or knock a cabinet out of alignment.

Very repairable and you'll never know it was ever hurt.
Try to get a recommendation for a good shop that works on RV's in your area.

Sorry about your accident. From the looks I'm sure no one was hurt. At least you had your TT out 5 times before it was hit. When we were bringing our Jayco TT home, we only owned it for about 30 minutes when it was hit by a wrong way driver.

Hopefully you have insurance. I took our Jayco to our Jayco dealer who worked out all of the details with the GMAC insurance adjuster. GMAC insured the driver who hit us and didn't cost me a dime.

We had $4200 worth of damage. The Jayco dealer did a great job and you would never know it was in an accident.

I camped next to a Jayco 5th wheel that was severely damaged when rear-ended by a pickup truck. When the repairs were finished, you would never know it was in an accident.
