New Ford F350/250?

I am looking to find a good deal on a left over 2013 F350/250. Hard to believe a pick up truck cost $60,000. I would love to get a diesel but that is a lot of money! For you that have gas do you regret not getting a diesel. Any issues with either motor( 6.2 gas or 6.7 diesel)? Thank you

My 6.2, 350 is running great with 63k on the clock, but I only tow about 12 times a year and around 8500 lbs max. As far as diesel vs gas, this is based so much on what you will be pulling. If pulling everyday and a lot, get a diesel.

To me, the gas truck is cheaper, the maintenance is cheaper, and the fuel is cheaper. If you can get away with gas (for the weight you are hauling), buy it.

Me, I had to have a diesel for my combo. I love it.

But, if Dodge had made a SC/8ft, I would have at least looked at it. And now that GM has finally updated their interior/dash, I would also have looked at it. I bought what fit me best and was the most modern at the time. And with my peculiar requirements, it had to be ordered.

I bought a 2013 ram gas 2500 hemi last summer. I looked hard at a diesel but decided the overall cost was just too darn high.
It is a 5.7, so smaller than your 6.2, and it pulls my 8000 trailer fine. On level ground I get 10-11 mpg....in hilly country I surely get less, but it pulls well. Does it stroll Lee on steep hills?? Yep, but not nearly as bad as I would have expected.
The point is, today's gas motors are better than ever an the cost of the diesel, the maintenance costs and higher fuel costs make gas motors a viable option.
If I towed thousands of miles a year or if I was in really hilly country,I would have bought a diesel, but I just don't need our want one.

This guy posted a few good videos of him hauling an RV with an F250 6.2L Gas engine. He towed a 5th wheel he desribes as weighng 8000# from Canada to Florida with it.

:h I ordered and drove my 2012 out the door fro 36000 and change and felt that I only got hosed a little bit.

It was an F2509 XLT with 1K of extras added. crew cab two wheel drive.

I've read about a few people who purchased the 6.2 and were amazed at the power the 6.7 had when the purchased another truck.

Either way both powertrains are proven to be very respectable.

Even the trucks that have $60K + stickers can be had for $12K to $14K off that price. Check newspaper ads and dealer web sites for their offerings. I bought my 2012 F350 with $60K+ MSRP for $14K off that price at the end of the model year after browsing local dealer web sites. Makes the price much easier to take.

Last December I upgraded from a pristine 12 year old Tundra to a low mileage F250 V10 Lariat CC. We needed a more capable tow vehicle and we needed more passenger room. In our case, the tow vehicle isn't used for commuting and sometimes sits for weeks at a time. Our "new' toy hauler will never exceed 8000 lbs and will only be used for hauling bikes a few times a year. A gas engine just made more sense. I've towed both our old toy hauler and our new larger one with the F250 and I'm real pleased with the difference. The thought "Gee, I wish I had more power" hasn't crossed my mind yet.

Both are doing quite well in spite of the Ford Haters here. You could order a truck for much less than 60k unless you just like a lot of fluff in a truck. $35/36k is entirely possible and you get to pick the rear gear ratio to fit your needs in a gas engine.

I don't think I've read anything bad about the 6.2 gas. It sure does run smooth, and I like the sound. I am satisfied with mine, that I use to pull several different trailers with.

If you need the capacity of the upper GVWR F350, then you may be better off with the diesel.

I was surprised by prices too but went ahead. The 6.2 is getting good reviews, many over in the Ford forums are now over 100,000 miles problem free. Lots of companies buying them and running them hard.

6.7 seems pretty solid now too. The biggest recurring issue seems to be how Ford handles water in the fuel and the injectors going. I'm not sure how significant the problem really is but if it happens and Ford finds water your warranty is gone.

No regrets getting the gas. Diesel didn't have the hauling capacity for my truck camper and the gas has more than enough power.
