We pick up our new RV in a few days, is there anything we should know or ask before we take home our first RV. We are getting a 30 ft class C motorhome.

It might sound like not a big deal but having a GOOD sewer hose will make your camping experience a whole lot nicer. AND many CG's 'require' the connections that come with a good sewer hose kit.

RHINO SEWER KIT

Can also be found at Walmart.

Congrats on your new MH. Happy Camping! :C

I used to dread dumping the black tank. Then I finally got the Rhino and 10 ft extension. It's no longer a big deal. It's amazing how this relatively cheap and simple item can make such an improvement

I used to take the stand that I didn't need to buy new RV dodads, then I broke down and bought one.

I am just real sorry I took so long to buy a Rhino Sewer hose to replace that ole stinky slinky.

YUP! It's a very small investment but WHAT a BIG difference it makes during the dumping process.

Now only if we can get those cheap butt RV companies to INCLUDE one as standard equipment on new RV's. :B

Plan for more time than what's been suggested above.

You may uncover something that you will insist that they fix before you leave the dealership.

And worst-case you may uncover something that makes you insist on leaving it there for them to get right before you'll even leave the lot.

After all that doom-and-gloom - Congratulations and I wish you a happy and smooth start to your camping season!

You'll still be overwhelmed after the walk through, notes and vid. There is a LOT to understand and it's all new stuff.

Take your time, read the manuals, try each system and appliance, read the manuals & do it again. Read the manuals! If you get confused or stuck with something.... POST your question. Someone here will know the answer and be able to advise.

For your first night & maybe 2nd & 3rd in the RV, pack it with everything you think you need and stay in the driveway. Make a list of everything you need to run to the house to get and a list of everything you didn't need that you thought you would. Now you know what to keep and what to throw out. ๐Ÿ˜‰

What did you get?? We also need pics since we're a nosy bunch and like to see pics of other's RVs.

Welcome to RVing!!

Ask questions. Make sure you go through the controls for all appliances, lights, slides, etc. I also agree that a good sewer hose will make that dreaded job a breeze.

I like the rhino flex as well. Been using it for several years now and it's still like new, on the outside anyway! They're really very inexpensive as well.

I agree..video tape it! With all the excitement you'll forget most of it. Have the salesman show you what every switch is for and what it does. Don't let them gloss over anything. They're making big bucks off the sale so have them take some time with you. A good walk thru will last at least an hour and a half. Make sure you know how to use the dump tanks..remember the movie RV..:E...if you're going to do your own maintenance have them show you where the oil and fuel filters are. It it comes with a tow/haul mode, have them explain that to you as well. Finally, if you have kids, leave them home if you can. Less distractions, the better....good luck, and congratulations on the new coach.

Remember, whatever you do forget, RV.Net is only a few clicks away. No question is too dumb. We've all been there before...Dennis

Video tape the whole walk thru. You will be referring to it often! :W

And make sure they show you how to open and close your awning.

And while you are at the dealership buy a REAL sewer hose/connections.

New RV's come with a very short, cheap, worthless slinky sewer hose. The first time you go out you will find that it is too short too reach the hook ups.

You'd think after what we pay for these MH's they could at least give you a sewer hose that is long enough but they do NOT.

It might sound like not a big deal but having a GOOD sewer hose will make your camping experience a whole lot nicer. AND many CG's 'require' the connections that come with a good sewer hose kit.

Agree with the above, have the dealer go over ever square inch of the rig with you. Take notes, pictures, etc. make sure they provide you with all of the manuals for all of the components installed (heater, AC, refrigerator, etc) as they will probably come in handy. Ask about filling with water, dumping, winterizing, etc. A good dealer will take the time to make sure you understand how everything works before you leave.

Good luck and have fun!

If you've never had one before, get a complete overview of it. Most times, the dealer will go over everything with you before you leave. Heard of some that didn't.

Plan on being there quite a while. Take notes and keep them in the RV. Keep them in a folder with a notebook for you to write down things you want to change on the next trip. Or write down questions to ask here when you get back from your first trip.

Otherwise, enjoy and congrats!
