New TC loading- rails in truck bed issue

I recently purchased a new TC and will be loading it onto the truck next week. Here is the rub. I also tow and utilize the truck for my 5th wheel rig. I've got a bit of a chore removing the fifth wheel hitch to make room for the new TC, and I plan to alternate use of the truck between the 5ver and the TC.

The concern is that I really need to leave the 2 bottom hitch cross rails-to- frame mounts for the fifth wheel hitch that are attached to the floor and frame of the truck bed. They rise up about 1.3 inches and sit parallel to the axle spaced about 2 feet apart in the truck bed. I was advised that the way to work around this so as not to remove the rails was to simply lay several 2x8's across the bed so the TC floor will lie on an even surface in the truck bed (with rails remaining).

Will that slight elevation of about 1.4 to 1.5 inches cause any problem in utilization of the TC when its traveling on the truck bed?

I don't have a 5ver, but needed to raise my TC to clear the truck cab.
When I picked up the TC I told the dealer I calculated a 1-1.5" raise needed. The dealer said they knew it would fit fine without anything. So as it was getting loaded for the 1st time, we had to stop because there wasn't clearance between the cab and TC. Then the dealer put in 2x layers of 2" foam. I don't know why, but that is what I started with.
I puller out one later of 2" and later changed to 1" XPS (extruded polystyrene) I got the high density 25 psi version vs the more common 15 psi.
I am still using the same sheet of XPS 8 years and 60k+ miles later.
With the change from the 4" to 2" and to 1" height, I could notice a difference in the amount of body roll (sway). Not huge amounts, but it's there.

Make sure your jacks will get you above the 2x8s. I know it's only 1 1/2", but depending on you bed height, that could be a lot.

I built a frame that fit around the rails and screwed a 3/4 in plywood over so it could not moved and I added a thin rubber mat that I got from an auto part, so you can remove it all when using the 5th wheel and put it back in wheen needed

I would lay 2 x 8s across the bed every 2 ft to support your tc

I myself haul both. I have 3 peices of plywood between the rails and a rubber bed mat on top, level, camper goes on. There is all kinds ways to do this, many threads on this, do a search. Dosen't effect the camper in any way in my case.

No, but you might want to try something that will prevent slipping and sliding. a rubber mat or sheet foam insulation from Lowes/Home Depot.
