This is my first trip in a trailer and is rented is 191/5
We are traveling from DEC 27 to Jan 4 2014 throughout the south of the united states Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana .
My biggest concern is the cold weather even tough is not freezing this time of the year it may get really cold at night.
any suggestions as how to sleep warmer at night should we take sleeping bags? heater blankets ? a heater and if so what kind.
The link will take directly to the pics of the one I am getting but it has a pop out that looks like canvas and I am not sure how to deal with the cold and all.

A Significant Other, Boyfriend, and the Spooning position works best on cold nights. Everything else is optional.

I know this question will be coming, so I'll go ahead and ask....what are you towing this with? Info re brake controller is crucial...also a legal requirement for trailers over a certain size. Sounds like a great trip. Yes, if you're cold at 50 degrees, you might want to get a supply of sweatshirts, gloves, etc. Our members across the north border would consider 50 degrees a heat wave....you'll be fine and in a day or so it won't seem so cold. Have fun.

I think people missed your link so here it is in a slightly easier to follow format. Link

That trailer has 30 amp service and it definitely has a furnace so you will not freeze. But there's a catch. If you camp where there is no electrical hookup you will drain the trailer battery overnight or within two nights running the furnace. If the battery dies the fan on the furnace dies and the heater stops working, and you freeze. ๐Ÿ™‚ Sorry I live in southern California and I also think that 50 is cold.

If you are getting camsites with electrical hookups they you may want to pick up a small electric heater at Walmart. This will allow you to keep the trailer warm without burning through all the propane.

Now for some unsolicited advice.

Many people believe the trailer battery will be charged appreciably by the truck when you are towing it around. This is not true. You will need to plug the trailer electrical cord into a power source (electrical hookup at campsite) to charge the battery.

Your truck will need an electric brake controller installed or the trailer brakes will not work. You can ask if a controller comes with the rental, but I'm betting not.

You can get a brake controller installed at many RV dealers, some u-hauls, camping world, or by doing it yourself. I like the Tekonsha Prodigy line of brake controllers but they cost around $125 before installation. link

Trailer tires have a maximum speed rating of 65 mph.

If you are not plugged into an electric source the microwave and all the household style electrical plugs will not work. But, the heater, water heater, and water pump will still work off the battery.

Ask what type of hitch you will need for your truck to pull this trailer and do they provide the hitch if needed.

Unless there is one of those "unusual cold fronts" that come through, being along the coast should not be that cold. The trailer you're renting should have a furnace that runs on propane. If you've not towed or had any experience with a trailer, suggest you make a call to the place you're renting and ask for a time to get some instructions before you're actually ready to head out. You also need to know if it's 30 amp or 50 amp so you can be sure the campgrounds you'll be at have the right electric supply for your site....most likely it's 30 amp. You can use a small electric/ceramic heater and will probably be just fine. A couple of blankets or a heavy quilt should suffice along with socks at bedtime. Agree on the sweat pants for PJs. Some friends who camp in weather colder than we choose to, swear by wearing a knit cap to bed.

BTW, if you do use an electric heater, don't even think about turning on the coffee maker or using a hair dryer at the same time as you'll most likely pop the circuit. Heat generating appliances are a big draw, so turn the heater off for that time.

Have a great trip!

Stop by your nearest Snowbirds R Us outlet and pick up some Wiser's Deluxe Canadian rye whiskey.

Apply internally, NEVER before or while driving or operating machinery.

Before you know it you'll be outside telling loud stories and saying "HAR har har har ... " like a seasoned winter camping pro.

We use an electric blanket on our bed in cold weather. What you think is cold is probably not what we think of as cold but we have camped at temperatures below 20 degrees often. Besides the electric blanket we have a comfortor that goes on top of it if needed.
We have a small space heater that we take with us to supplement our furnace in case we run out of gas.
If it is really going to be cold take gloves or mittens for everyone when they go outside.
Take warm pajamas. If you do not have warm pajamas, use sweat suits as pajamas.
