Newbie Looking For The Right Trailer

I thought I would do things differently, for a change.

Do things in my personal reverse.

Ask for advice BEFORE diving in feet first. Eh? Yes, I am a male.

So.....love camping...tired of setting up tents and tarps and sleeping on the ground. Tired of walking 200 meters in the rain to take a dump in a filthy toilet facility. YUCK.

I've decided to buy a travel trailer.

Criteria:

24' total length
No slides
No hybrid tent pop ups
Tandem axle

I've looked at, I dunno...75 trailers in and around Central Ontario. Some nice floor plans but some really cheap finishes and poor workmanship.

One trailer that has caught my eye...but I have yet to see in person.. is the Northwood Nash 17K. This trailer fits all my criteria and adds some I didn't know I needed.

Please...opinions on this idea of mine.

Thank you.

I would have thought so too but on the Northwood Dealer Contact List it shows Storm Runner RV in Bayfield, Ontario as a dealer that sells all Northwood products. As a small dealer there's not much chance they'd have the particular model you're interested in but as an authorized Northwood dealer they should be able to order what you want.

So...went to see that Nomad today. A little over the hill. Owner tried to ducky it up a bit so that it showed reasonably well....but....no. Bathtub has a crack in it that fed water to under the lino which rotted out the rear floor ....and that was covered with newer plywood.,,,,not a very good disguise. Shoulda scene his face when I pulled out my Milwaukee flood light and boroscope. 🙂

Nope and nope according to head office in Oregon. they are not authorized to sell the Nash. Pennsylvania has the closet East Coast dealer that can sell the Nash.
Just repeating what head office said to me.

By fluke encounter....I am viewing a 2003 Skyline Nomad 194LT on Saturday.
I actually like the floor plan...and the price.

Providing the TT is in decent shape, I can do some nice upgrades with the money that I "save".

Sounds like it's been well kept....we'll see after I go through it with a boroscope and a fine tooth comb.

Northwoods has the rep of being one of the better quality manufacturers.

Thanks. Read 'em. That site can make you feel bad for just about anything.

There is a lot more to a TT than floorplan. Unless you are going to park it and not tow it, renting a simlar size and weight unit is a very smart move.

Pulling on of these ore barges, parking it, paying for gas and driving 60 mph is best experienced before the big bucks are spent.

I'm not new to towing trailers.

So yes, the floor plan might be important to me.

Watch them carefully for a full 60 by 80 long queen bed. If you are tall, the short 74 or 76 bed is just horrible. Was a real unknown downfall for us when we got one.

Thank you for that. Darn it.

Something else that also looks good and fits my criteria.

Now I have choice.

BUT...overall opinion of Northwood as a manufacturer?

Reviews on trailer companies can be quite damning.
