I presently have a 2001 Suburban C2500 with the 8.1L (496) and the 4.10 rear end. I believe it has a tow rating of 12k. I was looking to upgrade my tv however I need seating for 7 as we have 5 teens. Was looking at maybe an Excursion diesel however no sure if I want to take a chance on the 6.0L or if i should just stick with a higher mileage 7.3L? Any thoughts? I believe that the open range has a evw of 9875 which I think is too close for the Suburban. Thanks Greg

Your Suburban has more power and payload, but shorter wheelbase than a 7.3L Excursion. I'm not sure it would be an upgrade.

Otherwise does anyone else know of a camper with quad bunks in back and atleast one slide in back and the kitchen island with slide in a lighter cammper? We just feel in love with the huge lounge option. Thanks Again Greg

With that many people going I would be leery of the advertised NCC of only 1475lbs. Since that's the brochure number it could be even less. Load that TT up with stuff for 7 people and you'll be maxed out on the TT's payload.

What is the tow rating on a diesel Excursion? You might gain a little there over the Burb, but don't they have the same if not less payload? With that big of a trailer I think that is what you are going to need to pay attention to.

Probably the only thing that is going to tow that trailer and haul 7 people and not exceed the payload capacity is a properly equipped 1 ton van.
