Am planning to retire in 4-5 years. Spent a considerable amount of time lurking on this site but have only seen limited subject matter on Open Range tt. Originally was convinced on Arctic fox or Blackstone but the floor plans and amenities seem closer to what I would like. Any opinions?

OPEN RANGE FORUM FOR OPEN RANGE OWNERS..... It is best to register as a prospective owner and then you can read the Full content of each post plus any pictures or links attached to a post. It's a well laid out site!!
We are considering purchasing the JT 340Flr trailer/ not the 5er.

Like Penman, we too have a Bumper pull JT337 travel trailer, although a bit older than his. Ours is a 2011 purchased in Jan. 2011. Only major issue was some severe inside tire wear on one tire. That was right before the two year warranty was up and OR replaced the axle at our dealer without any issue. The other few typical minor issues were also taken care of at our dealer under warranty. The 2014 Open Range Texas Rally Penman referred to was a blast. We just happened to be parked on the next row across from them. Definitely enjoy the Open Range Owners forum, loads of info.....cC

Probably should have provided a bit more info. Am not considering 5 er due to atv rides in bed. TH's seem to run heavier, especially when desiring 4 season. Am looking to keep tongue to butt at or preferably under 30 ft yet have amenities like recliners vs couch, fireplace, thermal windows, etc. not likely to haul kids as recently widowed without being blessed after quarter century,.

I just joined this Open Range Owners' Forum, if that helps. If there are others, I'd like to check them out as well.

We bought an Open Range TT earlier this year, our first RV of any kind. So far it's been a great unit, and Open Range seems to include a lot of small details / upgrades over other units we looked at. We've spent around a month in ours so far and pulled it around 6k miles around the country.

Drew, please excuse previous post. Didn't note sig. :R

I know some people who swear by them, and wouldn't buy anything else. I have to say, I have been nothing but impressed by Open Range. Their floor plans are unique, which I love. I don't see many TTs, mostly 5ers.

I can't speak to build quality, as I personally have never owned one. They will however be high on my list when I look to replace my current TT.

Thanks speedo for the comments. I agree about the floor plans, particularly the island. Also want the true 4 season and understand they are considered similar to article in that respect. Would like to keep tongue to butt to be 30ft or less and no 5 er cause I need the bed for an Atv.

We're picking up our OR Roamer RT288FLR Tuesday. We vacation in the heat of the summer, and have spent a couple years looking into a better insulated TT with 50 amp capability. Our new trailer will have two a/c units, both ducted. Since Outdoors RV and Arctic Fox don't sell trailers down here, the Roamer was the logical choice...especially since they have the floorplan and specs we want. I guess we will know after the two-year warranty period if it is as well-constructed as it seems.

My family has owned everything from TC, Hybrid, Class A, Class C, and now an Open Range TT. Based on my personal experience, it is the best RV we have owned and we have tried many different manufacturers. We have only had it for 1-1/2 years but so far the only problem was a bad propane regulator which OR quickly replaced. They do come with China bomb tires so we are already looking at replacing them. I'm a big guy (almost 400 lbs.) and I can comfortably use the bathroom including the shower. The trailer feels rock solid when I move around too (none of the others did). We chose a TT over a 5er simply because of fewer steps. We went to an OR owner's rally in Texas earlier this year so I got to see many different units. There were a couple who had problems of some type with their units but they were in the minority. BTW, I have no connection to OR other than being an owner.

We had one before we traded for our fiftth wheel. Great unit very well built. I was nervous trading it off because it had been trouble free, but our Grand Design has been trouble free as well.
