Ordered Pop Up Gizmo's today...Updated with PICS

I placed my order for some Pop Up Gizmos today. They should be in next week.

Pretty excited about these solar covers to help combat solar heat in my bunk ends during the day. They should also help retain heat during the late fall and winter months.

They will also provide an extra layer of protection against bird dropping and tree sap.

I got the standard Gizmos.

My plan is to do some tests with a thermometer and compare the temp difference between a covered bunk and a non covered bunk during the heat of the day.

Thanks!

When we had our last pop-up we ordered them and the were outstanding. Great in the warm weather as well as the cooler weather.

Enjoy them and your pup!!

Great! Thanks for the clarification on the PUGs for winter camping...I'll edit my post as to not lead someone in the incorrect procedure.

Thanks!

I generally won't camp without my SuperHighWind PUGs. With some modification, I leave them on full time so it is not a chore and setup maybe takes 30 seconds for 2.Velcro, Rings and Staples for PUGs Mods is basically all you need with the SHW version to leave on full time. You can get ithe velcro sewed on really cheap if you ask for it when ordering. Like $10.

Also, on the PUGs website, it says "Please note, you do not need to flip the covers (silver side down) to reduce heat loss. We recommend the silver side of the covers be place outward for winter camping as well as summer camping."

Installed my PUG's today. The PUP was already up so it wasn't the best install. Still made an incredible difference. I turned the AC on in the pup and its 95 degrees outside and the AC was actually cooling the PUP.. Woo Hoo

Anyhow...

here are some pics

Here is the PUG that is going on the slide out laying on the ground. One corner is folded over so you can see that one side is the reflective surface, the other side is dark green.

Reflective side out ... Pretty simple

Here is a shot of the PUP.. It was already up, so I didn't get them installed 100% correctly. You are supposed to stuff the pug way under the roof close to where the canvas attaches to the roof.

Here is the PUG installed on the slide out with the clamps (included BTW)

Here is a shot of the king size bed PUG installed. You can see where I didn't get the PUG tucked up and under the roof as much as I should have. I should have taken the shepherds poles down to tuck them in better.

But they are up and make a HUGE difference.

The reflectex mod is going to get done on the PUP as well. I am probably going to buy some more clamps just to make sure they stay put.

Thanks!

If you cut some of this for the zippered window openings, and maybe even under the bed mattresses, it will make a significant difference.

We did used this when we stayed long term while house hunting and it made a world of difference in hot and cold weather. We cut for the ends and the body windows. This works great in windows at home too.

Good call on the Gizmos, one of the best investments I made. I would also second or third the Reflectix, it really seemed to help as well.

Be sure to post your results.

Just requested pricing information for a complete set of covers and liners for the Utah. We just about burned up last weekend, until the downpours came that is. I really don't like running the AC non-stop but down here in dixie its a necessity! Hoping this helps.

Definitely get another couple of boxes of these. When we were in Colorado this past summer, we had to put these about every 6 inches just to keep the wind from getting under the PUGS and blowing off.

Thanks for the picture! I cant wait to get the gizmo's installed and see how much of a difference they make.

Our pup has a slide out so I ordered three covers for each pop out.

Our summers can kiss 100ยฐ and our winters can get into the teens. We fully expect to use our PUP during all seasons.

Thanks!

I bought some for our PUP a couple years ago and they have made a big difference. Definitely a good investment. I did go to Lowes and picked up some better spring clips to hold them onto the canvas as the ones that come in the package were rather small.

I've had them on both of PUPs and firmly believe in them. When I pulled them off of my first PUP to sell, the vinyl roof looked brand new.

Good luck and I hope you find them useful. Don't forget that Reflectix in the windows is also a boost to keeping heat out during the summer and in during the winter.
