Okay Dilema 1- when my DH turned the water on in the kitchen sink the water backed up in the shower. Were guessing that is a plugged drain somewhere. So what is a good drain cleaner I have read not to use Draino not sure why not its the same drain pipes you use in your home right? Anyway any advice would be great 🙂

My WAG is that the shower might have originally dumped into the black tank and someone created a bypass to get the shower to dump into the grey tank instead. The banded connections look like after thoughts vs. original design.

This is whats under the furnace and coat closet left of stove You've got 2 pipes and 1 handle to the right of this is the sink and to the left in the shower. Hope this pic helps explain what I was trying to describe 🙂

If you only have one dump handle, and a knob that you "turn" and water comes out of it, is it possible that you only have a black tank for your toilet and that you have no grey tank? Some campers don't have a grey tank, just a hose drain. Is the "knob" a hose cap where you need to attach a hose to drain grey water into a portable waster tank?

My experience has been never trust the gauges to be correct. Sometimes they are sometimes not, on the same tanks. They can help, but not trusted.

Just had a wild thought, probably no help but.... Have you checked the air vent pipe for the grey water tank? We had a conversion done on a horse trailer adding a weekend package and the guy that did it failed to install a vent for the shower/potty combo unit and that sucker took forever to drain. Any grey water just sat there forever till enough air seeped in thru the drain to let it bubble down into the grey tank. Wasps just love those vents on the roof. When we got our new old camper our son in law told us no problem with wasps in Colorado. Ha,ha,ha! When we got it home I removed those covers and pulled out tons of wasp nests, installed some wire sink drain screens purchased at Ace Hardware and no more wasps in there now. Just something you might check. Never had a grey line clog in 46 years of camping but there's always a first. Good luck. Oh that it was as simple as cleaning those vents!

Sounds-different. Hopefully im imagining stuff- Only exterior knob that turns and water comes out conjures up fresh water tank drain.

Cant guess, only one dump valve. Reminds me of my dads old camper everything went into one tank except the kitchen sink- it was plumbed to a hose fitting.

Hopefully you don't encounter freezing temps cause having all that water on board would not be good

I will try and get a picture of the inside drain pipes this weekend 🙂 there are the black drain pipes and there is a handle that you pull out to drain the pipe but there also is at the back of the camper a little knob that you turn and the grey water comes out. I also am confused about the handle and the knob outside. when we had our toy hauler you had 2 handles outside underneath 1 for black that you pulled first and then the grey water handle that the grey water would help rinse the septic hose of residue and then wash out. Really Easy Peasy stuff Never had a TC and how it works and why. the back up could very well be that the grey is full but the gages tell us its empty. Hopefully well get over to it this weekend and figure it out. Its fall time here in the NW so we have all fall and winter to tear apart and figure out.
