Pop up Sun Lite truck camper A/C. This unit was installed on the left hand side at the floor level next to the door. A/C and Fan operate OK then A/C cuts out; fan continues. I suspect the A/C pump overheats because there is no air circulation. This installation was started by the previous owner. Any suggestions?
First off make sure the unit is good in the first place. Take it out of the camper and run it. If it still won't run the unit is no good.
The only way a window unit will work is if it is hanging out the back with as much of the unit exposed to the outside as would be if it were in a typical window installation.
I suspect the previous owner was trying to keep the AC unit inside the camper. That's just not going to work unless you get a "sleeve unit" air conditioner. These are meant to be installed in a wall with no ventilation, but they are much more expensive than window units.
If you want it to work you have to shove it out through the wall.

the problem is we can't picture in our minds what your install currently looks like as we have never seen it.

Yes it is a small window unit. The A/c is right on the floor; through the side (Think it was the battery access) It is a typical house window installation.
