Hi everyone,
Looking at getting a diesel truck. Would appreciate your feedback on what you have, and what you get.
Please give me a Truck year, make, model, transmission, rear end ratio.

Empty MPG, City/Hwy.
Loaded MPG City/Hwy.

Plus were your at, Mountains, flatland, rolling hills.

Thanks Doug:C

Well thanks for all the info everyone. I see this post is not dead and it keeps on giving.
Update. I ended up getting a 2008 Ford F-350 dually Flatbed. And a New 2013 NorthStar Arrow 8.5 Love them both expecially the extra storage compartments on the outside of the camper.
Now these numbers are winter diesel and that tends to be a little less economy I would assume.
Empty 55mph - 15-19
Empty interstate 75mph - 12
T/C loaded - 9.5 any speed
Heres a photo.

Gary Gadget,
I'm just trying to get a census of what truck might get better fuel economy, so when I go to trade off my truck I might be able to save a few extra dollar of fuel. Who couldn't use a little extra cash. A Dollar Saved is a Dollar Earned. Thanks Keep on T/C'en.

On a trip to Alaska from Maryland and return we averaged 11.5 mpg for the entire trip. the rig was weighed when loaded setting off at a little under 14,000 lbs. See our signature below.

Since them we have been practicing some methods to increase our mileage. If we keep our RPM's at or below 2000 RPM we have been able to increase to 14.5 mpg on a cosistant basis, we slow as we climb, let the speed build going down hill, and take off slowly. We have discovered alot of other diesel powered vehicles doing the same.

On a 4443 mile trip from PA to Yellowstone and back, fuel used, 318 gallons of diesel. Worst mileage, 12.3 mpg (head wind in South Dakota). Best mileage, 16.9, but that was only half a tank with half of that spent driving 35-45 MPH in Yellowstone and the other half the downhill run to the East entrance of the park and into Cody WY. Best all highway tank 15 mpg with a quartering tail wind across Indiana and Ohio. Average MPG, 13.97.

Only figure my milage by how much fuel is used during a trip.
Last trip of 6456 miles used 475 gallons of diesel.
That's 13.6 miles per gallon.
Two weeks of that trip the camper was unloaded so the truck was running around empty.
The fuel cost me $1864.66.
So the average gallon cost $3.93.
Trip was May and June this year.
