Prodigy RF Brake controller

I purchased a new Prodigy (Tekonsha) brake controller with the
RF (wireless) set up. I ditched the older "hard-wired" brake
controller as I did not want to splice into my new TV wiring
and also wanted to go to the latest technology.

SO far, I am 150% happy with the product. Installation was very simple
in comparison to the older brake controllers. Essentially you
have to take 1 12v wire from the battery to the AUX connector in the
standard 7-way RV socket.

Once powered up, follow the instructions and "pair" the units together. Then simply adjust the level of braking that is desired.

The only criticism I have is with the instructions - (maybe I read
it wrong) - but they imply that 12V should go to the "electric brake"
connector - which is wrong it needs to go to the AUX connector.

While I'm sure there's been extensive testing done to ensure its safety in all conditions, I have to agree that its not for me either.

And fwiw, my Prodigy has given me many years of perfect service.

I used the unit of customer's trailers. Instead of hard-mounting the module, we installed heavy-duty magnetic feet, so it could just be slapped on the side of any trailer tongue or 5th wheel box.

Always glad to hear when a purchase works well for someone. That said for me I tow 4 different trailers which would require a controller for each one.

I was justing talking with an RV repair guy, and he swears by these units. He likes the feedback they give if something ever goes wrong. He suggested upgrading from my current brake controller.

I've used it extensively, with good results. This was one an F650 rollback tow truck (and occasionally a 35-ton Peterbilt wrecker), so I had concerns over range. Never was an issue with range or interference.

The one inconvenience is if you're pulling a hill with the flashers on. If you have Boost turned on, it will pulse the brakes. At least it's easy to turn boost off.

Not sure I'm ready to jump on one....Have to drill the frame to mount the module and for almost $300 I'll stick with my "old school" tried and true Prodigy...years and years of great service.

Anyway, thanks for the review. I was unaware that Prodigy had come out with a new model.
