Went to Anza Borrego State Park a few weeks back, it is my go to desert for the past 30+ years. Stayed in Blair Valley, which has some elevation, keeping the daytime temps in the low 90's. The dog is my best camping buddy, a 12 year old American Foxhound named Hazel.

So when are you going to fire up this thing so we can eat!

Great pictures.
We used to spend a lot of time in that area during the 70's, but not in July. Little Blair valley was one of our favorite areas when camping with the horses.

You know I once saw a Tiger out in Coachwhip Canyon many years ago. I've wanted one ever since. I wonder if that was you?

Probably not. I've been out Coachwhip once, did not camp. I have camped in many of the other canyons out there and have driven to Inspiration Point and Seventeen Palms and other such sights in that end of the park. BTW, my pre-Tiger RV, a Toyota 4x4 with DRW, was way better in sand than I have found my SRW Tiger to be.

eg, nice pix and short story.
Let's see a pic of your front mount genset.
I have a feeling you were all alone in Anza in July. It reminds me of the folks who go to death valley in the summertime, just to feel the heat: mostly zee krazy French tourists. After my 20's, I was done with super hot summer camping.

I posted some pics of it a few weeks back...

Will your inverter run a microwave.

I have a 2000 watt inverter that I run two power strips off of, one to the bedroom area and one over the kitchen. The microwave is rated at 900 watts and runs just fine.

I only brought the generator along to test out my new Coleman Mach 8 AC and my new front hitch generator mount. All worked great!

Vic, you should make a desert pilgrimage someday. Anza, Mojave National Preserve, Death Valley, etc..

Added to bucket list!

Very Nice! I thought I was the only one crazy enough to go out there in the summer 🙂 I bet you had the place to yourself! Have you tried to visit the mud caves in summer?

Trying to grasp Anza in July only reaching a high of low 90's. Must be higher than I thought.

Very nice! I like your flag and flagpole mount. Something about camping in the desert that feels strange to me. Glad you had fun. I think I want to try it someday. Vic

Nice trip report and photos of Anza Borrego State Park. That place is definitely on our bucket list to stay at during the winter months sometime in the near future.
