Rain X

I used Rain X for the first time on my TV. I used it as per the insructions with a dry towel let it dry and did it again. It left my windshield looking terrible it looks like something oily has been smeared all over the glass and has a haze. The more I try to buff the glass the worse it gets. Is this normal? Also how long is this stuff suppose to last?
Thanks

Properly applied nothing beats Rain X. Always start with a clean windshield and for best results apply two coats. I just replaced my wiper blades with the new Rain X blades. Haven't used them yet but if they are half as good as the Rain X I am good to go. Kept the Oem's for my spares collection. We will be in MI for another week then headed to MO and then back to Tucson for the start of the Monsoon so no doubt they will get a work out soon. A couple of coats on the coach windows, especially the rear on our 24' C works well.

Oh, don't forget your mirrors, the rain just sheets/rolls right off.

It helps if you let it dry in the sun.

"Mist is another story. "

Yup! I will never again use any type of windshield treatment. PPG had a product they warranted for the life of the windshield. The glass installation people convinced me to have them apply it on a new windshield.

I said ok if I don't like it would they remove it they said yes. I tried ti for a while. It's nice in normal to heavy rain bur light rain to a mist it makes it hard to see especially at night,

I told them to remove it. They TRIED! I was not happy with their results and they replaced the windshield.

IMHO nothing better than QUALITY OEM wipers and 20-10 wiper fluid!

I use the Rain-x windshield wash. LOVE IT! Many times, I don't even use my wipers as the rain just beads off at hiway speeds. Mist is another story.

It's really good stuff.

apply to clean glass with dry cloth or paper towel
let dry to haze
use new clean cloth wet (with water) to buff it out
follow with a clean dry towel or cloth to polish

I've even put it on dirty glass and never had such an issue.....

How long it lasts varies, but I'd say on average I still see affects of it, although diminished a couple months out.

I like Rain-x
and I suggest the rainx windshield washer fluid too
but I don't care for the stuff made for the inside of the glass to make it fog free.....

That was it.
I was using a micro fiber cloth. My son told me to use a clean T shirt rag slightly damp. It did the trick.
