You really want to talk about Mexico? Do you know where the Aisin transmission is from? I will give you a hint. My wifes KIA SORENTO has one in it.:B
Why not? I don't see anyone making claims about the Ram being made in the USA. We all know what it is, and where the components are made, and where they're assembled.
But when Mom hands me a big 'ol Apple Pie with a "Made in the USA" sticker on pie pan, I don't expect to find a jalapeno in it! I might feel slightly misled!
Frankly, if you're going to end up with a jalapeno, you might as well just order the burrito that's honest about it's ingredients! :B
That said, as I mentioned in another thread... where it's made really is of very little concern to me. It ranks right about the same as "color" when picking a truck. Capability, comfort, options, price, and others tend to come way before...

In addition Ford has announced they are spending more money to tool up the Ohio plant where they are building the new F650/F750 trucks and adding another line just to build it's F450/F550 trucks. Made in the USA...Yes! :B
So they all come with the 6.2L then? :B
Perhaps someone from Ohio,USA can chime in...
Or someone from Fordโs "Engine Plant II" in Chihuahua, Mexico unless Ford is shipping them sans-Powerstoke now...
A little like finding a jalapeรฑo in your apple pie! :B

I think it's kind of interesting that everyone is talking about the engines. I bought my GMC Denali based nearly entirely on the transmission. Strongest one available, bullet proof record. Engines? All of them have massive horsepower and torque, though Dodge is ridiculous on the torque factor. And the bottom line is............buy what you want! We're not in highschool anymore, we don't always have to own the most popular and always be right or the flavor of the month.
Actual the Allison 1000 has run out of gas at current Duramax ratings, and they have dropped out of the HP/torque race. The FORD Torque Shift transmission and the Aisin are both much stronger and very reliable.
Chris
Sir you beat me to it! The Aisin is a TRUE Medium Duty Trans, along with the MediumDuty Cummins is a solid combo
The Allison in the LD trucks is not the same as in MD applications. Yes it is a great trans but as Chris points out it needs a Major updating.

Fact is FORD is now in a position to have to win back customers in the class 3, 4 and 5 market.
I'm not so sure about that!

However, this thread is about class 3, 4, and 5 trucks. We all know that FORD sells a ton of F150's.
These numbers are a break out of trucks doing the real HD work out on the streets and roads. Like I said earlier, the cost of ownership has cost FORD the leadership in this segment. You are however late to game and did not take time to read the whole thread?
The link I provided does not include .5 tons
In addition it would be good if you could provide a link to your claims

So is a 550/5500 truck a "2 ton" ?
Call it what you want - My 10,000 lb Ram 5500 has a 9000 lb payload which is 4.5 tons.
With 2 tons the overloads are not touching and still have a gap.
Is that a C-channel chassis under there? Beautiful truck!
NC, hope you're getting better and continue to get better.
