Real life opinions on Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspens

Its getting time to cycle out my old 2003 Tahoe with high miles, and I would love to replace it with another Tahoe, But Tahoes are so much more expensive than what they were back years ago. However, the Tahoe was the most reliable vehicle I ever owned.

So, anyone have real life experience with 2007-2009 Dodge Durango or Chrysler Aspens? These are much more in my price range, and was wondering if the 4.7 motor is reliable? And yes, I do preventative maintenance to the extreme with my vehicles. Not looking to do much towing with it, maybe the 1-2 times a year hauling my 4,500# boat. I use my truck to pull around my travel trailer.
THANKS!

Man, you guys really have this innate ability to turn a simple question into a big swinging schlong contest. It's happened several times in past several weeks. And it really seems happens with the Ram/Cummins guys.

I feel sorry for those OPs that are new to camping/RVing and turn here for answers.

Friggen give it a rest already.

It seems to happen more on Ram/Cummins topics. I don't think you can put that on Ram Cummins guys.

That said, this forum is the last place I would go to for objective information on a tow vehicle.

Another to look at would be the Jeep Commander. Same frame and powertrain that the Durango has.

X2. The OP asked for opinions from those who had "experience" with these two vehicles. As usual, he gets the same old garbage from the same culprits.

Post up a link to back your BS Nutz. BTW how do you feel about your beloved GM building their Buick Crossover in China to import to North America.

Want me to post up a pic of the used GM's sitting in the local *Kia* dealership? They have a ton of them. More GM products then FCA vehicles.

dodge guy,

What you fail to realize is that Chrysler sells and has sold only a small fraction of what the other 2 do every year and have plus the big volume of others/imports/offshore owned that were and are sold and yet Chrysler vehicles dominate the used vehicle lots and are dogs as clearly noted in the "National Automobile Dearlers Association" reports! NDAA

Try to explain that away Mr "dodge" guy!

You need to do some research before you type your non-sense

And yet they keep selling more and more! Hmmm!

I can tell you from the mechanical side of everything, I've worked on far more GM cars than Chrysler vehicles. I would never own a GM vehicle just for the repairs alone, never mind they can be anywhere and usually In need of major repairs.

Give me a Ford or Chrysler any day of the week.

It's your opinion vs mine. Again, this isn't helping anyone, including this post from me.

Aside from the ugly factor, IMO. They are decent vehicles. They have ram 1500 drive trains so pretty heavy duty for a mid size vehicle.

Used independent vehicle lots and nearly all the dealer's lots are loaded with used Chrysler Corp vehicles around here in West Michigan. They can't hardly give them away here either!

jbres, I guess that really says something and gives you an answer to your posted vehicle choice question! Think about it? Why do you think FCA and CEO Sergio Marchionne are begging for someone (anyone) to absorb them guised as a merger. NO takers at all! You already know what vehicle was the "best" you have ever owned so why chance big problems? Only you can make the real choice!

Give it up already! You aren't helping anyone here at all! I guess it must just be a west MI thing. From what I can tell used car lots are loaded with all different makes!
