Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 10K GTW, 1K TW.

I know it has been recommended many times over the years to get the Equilizer but this Reese is the newer version it is seems to be the same technology as the Equilizer except the bars are tapered there they use Brake Pads to dampen the metal on metal rubbing. Any thoughts on this choice?

I drive a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 that can tow 6500 lbs and haul 1100 lbs. I am going to tow a 23 ft 4400 LBS Outdoor RV 20RB travel trailer. Tongue weight of 390 dry

Not sure how much some little pieces of friction material rubbing on painted metal actually do. But my towing experience has been nothing but a pleasure.

The brake pad material should offer better friction and control. Metal on metal doesn't offer a whole lot of friction.

As long as you don't have an inverted coupler with the 800 lb SC kit, you'll be fine with the Reese SC. If you have an inverted coupler, the 800 lb kit won't work. The 1400 lb tongue weight kit will but the brackets reach way down to the spring bars taking up a good bit of ground clearance. I almost ordered the 800 lb kit before I found this thread from years ago.

I prefer to not drill into the trailer's chassis so I'll be going with the Equalizer 4 point sometime in the near future for more ground clearance, no drill installation, made in USA as apposed to the Chinese made Reese and no pads to have to replace. I've seen some old Equalizer hitches both 4 point and 2 point and wear on the brackets and spring bars is surprisingly minimal.
The Steady Flex looks like it should work very well.

My thought is that I would never buy a metal on metal friction device. The friction material has to be much better.
