Rookie Mistake - need advice

Parked the trailer, had the post come down on two pieces of wood to get it high enough to unhitch from our truck but then top piece of wood split so we knocked it loose. It now occurs to me that we aren’t going to be able to raise the trailer high enough to get it back onto the trailer hitch. My husband said we’ll figure it out when it’s time to leave but I’m obsessing and worrying now. Suggestions how to solve? The trailer is an R-pod.

One of the few things I like AND dislike about my Ram Rebel.

The air suspension.

I often use it to help couple / uncouple the trailer.

That's the like.

The dislike?

I HATE the ride.

When we got the new to us Arctic Fox, it is much higher so we did all the hitch setup, etc. The jack has to go down a long ways, a couple of blocks and we are good. When I replaced the jack, I got one with the Robofoot so now only need 1 block, works great.

Arrived yesterday afternoon at Hannah park, Jax. Beach after driving mostly in rain from Huntington Beach, SC. Got camper situated, chocked and unhitched. Well, mostly. Took off the chains and brake cable. Moved truck a couple feet, wife yells Stop!. I had left the plug in. It popped out. Will have to check all the connections today.
Sheesh!
And I had just replaced the cord a week ago.

I have been RVing for at least 45 years. 2 gas MH's and the last was a DP for 14 years. As I got older (and smarter) I finally made a check list to be sure I put up everything up when leaving a camp site.

I sold my DP last year and now looking to scale down to a simple TT, if the DW will let me buy one. lol

You could buy a lower drop draw bar for your receiver. You may need that anyway. That or a longer jack post.

Thanks! Never thought of that! It’s our first trip (Ga to Me) and probably not my first dumb mistake! Birthday is tomorrow and I can now celebrate with one less worry! Thanks again

Not dumb at all. I've done the same thing and worse. I'd bet the majority on this forum have run into that issue.

Most likely to happen on a site that has a lot of slope front to back

All good suggestions.
Also it’s a Rpod, so 1 free beer to the next 4 guys that walk by. Pick it up, you slide a new block under the jack.
Depends what 4 beers is worth to you!

And that’s not a rookie mistake! Most of us could top that AND double down!

If you raise the front of the trailer using the tongue or the front stabilizers, be sure that the rear stabilizers are not deployed! I've seen that done and bend/break them.

we had our tt fall off the two blocks I placed under the tongue jack, that wasn't pretty!! it rolled back as it came off the truck
I carry a 1 ton bottle jack for tyre changes, so I used that to lift the tt

If you can't get the camper high enough lower the truck. (If possible)

If you are close but, not quite, having a few people set in the very back of the box of the truck might be enough weight to lower the truck so that it will now slide under the hitch.

Sometimes backing up to the camper from a different angle with make a difference in the height of the truck.
