Safety warning on Keystone Springdale Campers

I was looking at pics of a new 260LE and it had corded miniblinds in the kids bunk areas.

Big NO NO, as most RV makers already know including Jayco. Cords wrap around kids necks and can strangle them.

Curtains in kids areas, no loose cord blinds in other areas, and no material to catch fire in the stove/sink area. My Jayco has this and follows the saftey standards that are common sense. Very surprised to see Keystone has such a dangerous arrangement.

Nobody could sleep well with the flimsy miniblinds anyway.

Mini blinds at the bed are just wrong because they rattle when kids stir around at night.
Heck, you can look at them wrong and they rattle.

From the looks of it the risk of strangulation would be fairly low in this area. The windows are right next to the bed, the blinds and cord are fairly short, and the cord is clear of any type of drop off. If someone still worried about this then there's a myriad of different styles of cord keepers for cents on the dollar.

How many children were injured by mini blind cords in campers?

So this is about miniblind safety more than Keystone Springdale?

Phased out from just campers?

From residential settings. Even our 04 TT has the safe type.

Aren't all new corded blinds required to have the safety "break-away" cords?

I don't think corded blinds have been phased out. Just the kind with the string loop. All now have individual strings. You can still buy them at Lowes, WalMart and just about everywhere you can buy blinds. Here's some on Amazon Corded Blinds

If you're uncomfortable with them in your camper it's pretty cheap and easy to remove and replace. I wouldn't let that influence my buying decision.

My camper uses only one of those metal blinds above the kitchen sink where kids can't get to. The metal was needed so that no material to burn is around the stove. That was in 2012.

Otherwise, they have those material blinds that has the end of the string screwed to the wall and where the blinds are continuous.

The bunks use curtains like the privacy curtains used for the bunk bedroom and front bedroom.

Here's the Keystone Springdale pics on a dealer's site.
