Sewer hose in NL bumper tube

This is part fyi and question.

Fyi... my new sewer hose kit (Revolution 10'+10') didn't fit my new NL camper bumper tube (2018 9'6" QSE). Researching this forum, it seems that hoses/fittings not fitting into bumpers is a common problem, and not just with NL. 5"x5" vinyl fence posts from Home Depot seems to be a common DIY solution.

Anyhow, I called the RV dealer who called NL, and NL said they include a female end that *does* fit, and sure enough, I found it and it fits, albeit very tightly. The part NL included was:

Valterra T1024 3" Straight Hose Adapter

Question... while the female just fits, obviously I bought a 10' + 10' kit with a male/female coupler in the middle, and the middle coupler won't fit. Are there coupler options that are even smaller than the Valterra? Also, has anyone shaved a 4 finger coupler like the Revolution down to a 2 finger coupler like the Valterra? And finally, is it necessary to have a coupler on the far end for most dump stations and RV parks?

At this point, I'm thinking of buying a bare 15' hose for the Valterra, and store it all in the bumper. I'll carry one 10' Revolution length elsewhere if/when more reach is required. I don't know if having a bare end on the 15' stretch however is feasible.

Thanks for the feedback.

I didn't know about the "no sewer hose on the ground" requirement for many places, and the rain gutter trick seems to be a good reaction. And the more I looked at the rain-gutter tray in a 5x5 fence post, the more I'm thinking I just need to do it, and the NL bumper can carry one extra length.

Not practical to use an open end hose to dump. Generally hose fitting needs to enter pipe at dump. Not a coupler though.
It 'looks' like a 2 piece EZcoupler ell might fit within the door/tube opening. Its what we use but our box is larger.

End of ell could be shaved a bit if needed and still lock into insert piece.

Went and measured ours. Camera prospective skews but hub against flat block, holding parallel, protrusion IS 3 3/4" at end of ell.

Shaving 1/8 to 1/4 off inside half of outlet opening to clear inside of tube seems might work. 'Course the insert piece wont and will need a place to live. We rarely use ours though unless at a site where the sewer outlet is a stub sticking up out of ground. Where sewer pipe flush to pad, most dump stations, ell with a weight on it sufficient.

Yup, the majority of sewer hose couplings donโ€™t fit in the tub on the NL campers. The one they supplied does fit but man is it tight....
I have a 10ft hose with the supplied NL coupling and I use a Rino elbow when in a RV park which easily threads on the other end when needed. I keep that rino elbow / coupling in a large zip lock bag in by the valves.
Buddy of mine is a welder / fabricator. Heโ€™s looked at it and figures if they just added a small section or ( 1.5 inches) of 5 inch square stock with a bigger 5 inch door, that would solve most of the problem with one end.
If NL made the entire box 5โ€ they would have to also modifie the back landing as it is only as wide as the sewer box tube at ether end.

Same here. I installed a 5X5 plastic post and carry 2 plastic eve gutters inside it also to meet the "no sewer hose on the ground" requirement.

When I get my TC out of the garage this spring, I'm going to add 2 6" diameter schedule 40 PVC pipes to the back underside with glue on caps at one end and threaded caps on the other, one for the slinky and the other for fishing rod storage.

One thing for sure, my next TC will have a Thetford Cassette toilet. No slinky needed.
