Sold our Lance 815 truck camper and looking to purchase a Nash travel trailer. Looked at the exterior only of a nice 2007 Nash 22H 4 season today that is parked at a local RV park where it is stored. Owner said I could look at outside of camper since he was at work. Liked the model and the exterior looked in good shape but climbed on to roof to inspect. While the roof which is crowned looked solid there are many small black spots. The camper exterior needs a thorough cleaning for sure. Owner says the inside is excellent. Peaked into some windows and looked good. I also noticed that all the vertical seams and roof seams needed to be sealed and caulked. Dried and cracked. Spoke with owner on the phone later and asked him If he ever did any regular caulk maintenance on entire camper since he bought it new in 2007 and he said NO ?!!! Supposed to look at interior tomorrow. My Question is should I run and forget about this one??

I looked for any water stains on ceiling, inside all cabinets, around AC unit, under dinnete benches, and exterior storage compartments. Nothing. Upholstery is in very good shape. Original owner and has not used in 2 years. Selling due to divorce. Now it is up to the Dear wife if we pull the trigger. LOL

Having owned a 2006 Nash 22H, take a look at this thing. As long as the roof doesn't have any holes in the rubber and no leakage stains in the interior, it might be worth considering.
It might just need a good scraping off. My wife spent two days "putting her scent" on our trailer, and it's fine. One thing to look at is the upholstery. If the cloth is dirty or worn to the point where it won't come clean or needs new upholstery, get a "deal." Also, the interior can be worn from usage to the point of just moving on to another rig.
We found our 22H to be very good and probably should have kept it.
Good shopping....

I check my TT every year for caulking needs. On my last TT, it didn't "NEED" anything for years.. And even then what at first looked bad really wasn't. It was just surface cracks in the caulk. IO went ahead and went over the cracked areas anyways. Probably should have done it al, as after that every year a few more areas needed attention... BUT, it was always just surface cracks. Never any leaks. Todays caulks are really good, and the scare stories about needing to do it every months are from the old days when they were not as good.

PS, I live in Phoenix AZ, about as severe a climate for caulk as it gets.

Hey Westend, There is a dealer here that will do the seal test for 100.00 bucks. I have seen DIY posts online how to do it yourself. Good Idea. Looking at the inside of camper today at 4 pm central. Will update. Thanks.

Bumpy.. the roof is a “rubber ROOF!”…. Sorry, had to say it. I do not remember which one. If my dog and I had not aged to the point of getting in each other’s way at night. I would still have my 2002 22H.

The roof spots are mold caused by sap I think. Most of it comes off with soap and a brush.

I never messed with the caulking on my unit.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If you think it is broke, fix it right…. Just me…

Will the seller allow you to perform a pressurized leak test on the trailer? That will turn up bad leaks in the roof system and any small leaks over the whole rig. Even if you are unable to do the test, presale, it may be something you want to do later for peace of mind.

The test is very easy to setup, should you want to DIY. I would recommend one of these Harbor Freight ventilators. I use a conventional Dayton furnace squirrel cage blower, it it will push as much air as the commercial Sealtech system. I place the blower outlet through a window, spray dish soap and water out of a handheld sprayer bottle on the roof, joints, and siding. I walk around the trailer marking on diagrams where the bubbles are forming. I then go back with the diagrams and a tube of Geocel Tripolymer to seal it all back up.

Good luck with your trailer buying, the one you listed seems to be a good fit for you.

The camper is Aluminum sided and I saw so delam at all. I will go over the inside and look for obvious stains, ripples etc.. The unit weighs a little over 4000 lbs. No problem with my 5.9 cummins turbo diesel. I want 4 season heavy built camper. The price I offered is around low retail for this model. This 22h nash model is 23.5 feet long. Thanks for input.
