Slide room cable adjustment

Hi. I have a 2015 Keystone Bullet TT. After only 20 "cycles" (that is, extend the room and retract the room = one cycle), a cable snapped. This happened two months after warranty expired, of course. Keystone won't help, stating that the cables need to be adjusted...and weren't. I noticed that the owner's manual has nothing listed for cable adjustment under the table of Maintenance Requirements. Under Slide Out Systems, it says "periodically, during the normal course of operation, Slide-out systems and rooms will require adjustment.

How often are you supposed to adjust the cables, how can you know if they need to be adjusted, how do you adjust them. If they are out of adjustment, is it OK to use the room to get on the road? I can't seem to get this info from Keystone. Thanks for your help!

I have the same slide system as the OP. You need to adjust the cables if they are too tight or if they get too loose. They should have about 1/2" of play with you push up (or down) on the cables. I have a 2012 Sundance with the bal accu-slide. If you google it you can find videos of the slide operation along with maintenance manuals, videos, etc.

Mine has never required adjustment and I have used my rig at least one time per month since new in 2011. The only time it should need adjusting is when you see slack on any of the 4 cables inside or outside.

There has to be another factor for your cable breaking in such a short period of time.

Access to the motor and cable adjustments is either above the slide covered by a removable valance or in the case of a bed slide, it will be underneath the head portion of the bed.

After you google it you will see how simple this system is and it is really reliable if installed correctly from the factory.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I don't have a cable system slide, but one of the Schwenk? systems that runs on gears/track and motor. I hope someone with the cable system can advise you. Several dealers warned us of getting a trailer with the cable system. When it's time to get a different trailer, keep this in mind. Good Luck to you.
