Small water heater leak

I found a small water heater leak on my trailer the last time I was out and finally started troubleshooting it. It is a VERY small leak, only a few drops every couple of hours, but enough to be noticeable. It appears leaking out of the upper fitting where the plastic goes into the actual heater body where there is some white sealant. I've attached pictures below to give an idea of what the issue is.

Anyone have any experience fixing this issue? What's the best way to tackle it? I'm heading out on a trip on Friday and would like to have this cleared up by then.

Pulled the fitting out, put some teflon tape on it and put it back in. No leak! I thought about replacing with brass, but didn't think it was necessary since the plastic fitting wasn't bunged up.

Yes, the grey check valves or adapters are just threaded in 1/2 inch threaded both ends. Ace Hardware normally carries them. I have not looked at Lowes or Home Depot!

We go to LOWES Hardware for anything and everything we need to maintain our RV's electrical and plumbing.

Thanks for the tip. I'll pull it out tonight and reseal it. I'll look for some of that teflon tape as well. Wouldn't hurt to have some around.

It lookslike uo have an Atwwod aluminum tank with brass to PEX adaptors. If the leak is between the tank and the brass, where you see the white thread sealant, then remove it and reseal with tfpe tape or paste. I prefer Harvey # 55 yellow teflon tape, rated for gas and high temps.
Should it be the PEX adaptors, a minor tightening of the nut should do, do not over do it, the back parts of the plastic nuts break easily if over tightened . They have a neoprene cone shaped washer that seals very well when aligned properly.

Do they just thread in? Where would I get brass replacements?

I would say that the grey check valve(s) are your problem.
I would replace them with brass.
Use Teflon tape and not the paste.
