Storing TT for winter

I'm storing my TT in my yard for the winter. The problem is, I don't have a completely level area anywhere. Will it be ok sitting on a grade that's probably 6-8" from being level? If not, what do you recommend for long term storage?

Welcome from next door in WV. We often camp near your neck of the woods at Salt Fork and Barkcamp.

We park on the grass - and it sure is muddy now after the Christmas rain.

Used nearly two packs of Lynx Levelers when we parked it before Thanksgiving to go under the axle and the four stabilizers. We always use the levelers at campgrounds and just go an extra "layer" at home to account for any sinking into the ground.

I think it is worth the investment in the levelers - and it didn't hurt that two of the four sets were bought for next to nothing at a yard sale. We also use them to level tables and chairs, and if the site is muddy, they make good stepping stones.

LOL - No, I think I'd shy away from that myself! When I had my 2nd TT I poured a concrete pad, and then went ahead and put in a 30A hookup plus water/sewer. It's very handy for me as I can keep a beverage or two in the fridge for when I'm working outside, and before a trip I can hook up everything and check it out prior to leaving. By the way - Congrats on the rig!

It won't hurt anything to store out-of-level, especially if your refrigerator is turned off.

You did not say if you were out of level front-to-back, or side-to-side. If front to back, you should be able to block up the tongue jack to make the front higher, or drop the tongue completely to the ground to make it shorter. If it still needs to go shorter, you can block up both wheels, which will raise the camper higher so the tongue can be lowered even more.

If you are unlevel side-to-side, can you block up one side under the wheels to bring it more level? I think the highest I ever had one set of wheels up on blocks higher than the other side was 10 inches at a campground once. It looked scary as can be, but I had really long boards stacked up on top of each other, each one a little shorter than the other so they formed a wedge I could roll up on. But my wife yelled her head off when both tires made it to the top so I wouldn't roll of the back of those boards! When I had it all in place, I chocked everything, put the jacks down really tight. Maybe you could the same.

No worries if the fridge is not being used, and the trailer doesn't roll away!
If I do nothing, my trailer is about 2" off side to side, which is generally how I leave it... with the wheels chocked on HDPE (plastic) 1"x8"x12". The HDPE is great for storage because of being maintenance free, but not so great for leveling. They are heavy, and when stacked will slide all over the place.

That's a great idea! I do not have Lynx levelers, or any levelers, for that matter, since I just bought the camper yesterday. But I may do something similar with the plywood and some 2x8s or similar, just to get it close. I'm not sure yet. I guess it really depends on what I'm gonna do inside it over the winter and if I need it to be level-er.

My storage area next to my house not level either. I bought 2- 4X8 sheets of pressure treated 1" plywood at HD and had them ripped in half lengthwise then laid them one on top of other allowing 4 inches stair stepping, one a little behind the next to make a 2ft X 8 ft ramp, 4" thick Then I put my Lynx leveler blocks on top of that for each axle ( 3 high pyramid) so my low side is now 7 " higher and totally level and both axles and tires supported equally. This is good to do if you will be extending your slideout or testing your fridge during off season as neither should be operated if TT is not level. Looks better too level...I hate crooked pictures in my home and crooked TT's!

I have wedges of firewood between the tires, on both sides. I figured that would hold it still. I put some temporary pieces of flat scrap wood down for now under the tires but in the last day, the cement brick under the tongue has sunk a little, so I'm working on getting something to put under that, for a wider area, so it doesn't sink any more.

2x6 or larger with a 2x4 stop nailed to it has worked for me. Just find a good way to insure it can't roll away.

It'll be in grass. So, since I just got it yesterday, I'm trying to figure out what to put under the wheels and tongue to keep it from sinking.

Not a bad thing at all. It will assist in water run off, and snow and ice melt run off. As stated previously, if not close to level, refrain from powering up and using the fridge. Now... how many days until spring?? I'm anxious already!

Eagle, hey neighbor !

I cant think of anything that would be effected. Will it be in the grass or on concrete?

Thanks for the vote of confidence. My cousin says the same thing. Water runoff helps the roof, apparently. I just didn't know if that 6-8" would do more harm than the water runoff would do good.

I store my TT out of level. There is not a level spot in my yard. I'm in East Tennessee so no one has a level spot (well some might). Might help the water run off. Just don't use the referigator. You should be okay.
