Thank you, TC people!

You are one of the main reasons I recently ordered an 'almost TC', a Tiger TX 4X4. It was clear to me that you guys have more fun than do other RVers. Thanks for inspiring me! I wanted a single unit and would not be taking the camper off the truck, anyway, so I went for the Tiger. See you on the (less traveled) road. 🙂

(I had 2 posts in this thread that were apparently eaten in the server crash. To recap...)

Mock, Many, many congratulations! Big YAY! I know better than most how long you've been thinking about this, and how much research you've done. I think you'll be very happy with your new Tiger. I still smile when I look out the back door at mine, and the smile gets bigger when I fire it up. I really like the improvements that Mark Guild has made to Dave Rowe's original design, but I'm sure glad that I got mine before the price went up.... 😉

Someone upthread mentioned the impossibility of removing a Tiger Ford's cab for repairs (Mock's is on a GM, as I recall). That's Ford's recommended method for some engine repairs, but not the only way.

There are several models of Tiger now. It'll help clarity if folks will specify Bengal TX (like Mock's), similar but lower CX (Tiger 4x4's & mine), hi-tech Malayan (Diplostrat's), or the larger Siberian.

Again, congratulations!

Jim, "Last night I left my laptop on the floor. Then this morning I mistook it for the bathroom scale. Turns out I weigh about $1149."

(on edit: I see that the errant posts have returned...)

Y'all need to remember that there are several models of Tiger. The Bengal CX & TX are similar except for a higher roof on the TX and dual pane windows. The pricier Malayan is a cat of an entirely different color, being similar in size but considerably higher tech & more expedition-oriented (and I think there are two models of it). The Siberian is a larger vehicle, pretty comparable to the Earthroamer.

If you look at the website, use the pull-down menu under 'Models'. It's probably worth specifying which you're posting about, for clarity.

(I'm glad I got mine years back, before the prices went up! ;))

What's the list price on one of these like the one you ordered, out the door? So, it takes a (5) month wait time to get one built? Are there showroom(s) anywhere in the Country to test-drive and view one? What is the warranty on their coach part, and where do you have to take it for service under warranty?

Reduced Price!! Maybe you can call for the other answers or buy this one!

We test drove that used one at the Pleasanton RV show in January. I bet they will be back again next year if you want to take a look. They had 3 of them there. We really liked it and the Tiger concept in general, but it just didn't give us the floor space we needed for 2 people + 2 larger dogs considering the winter use we plan. It's a great option if your focus is more on off-road use. Everything is built very solidly. When you compare it directly to the other options like Earthroamer or Earthcruiser/Outback Explorer it's actually reasonably priced as a ready-made overlanding vehicle. And the "cool" factor is a big plus because they look great.

....working in reverse (using the motorized RV depreciation spreadsheet by Bob Gummersall), the original cost of that Tiger (in the linked ad) would have been just about $140,000 (in 2013). At the end of 2014, it's wholesale price will be appx. $80,360. And, by the end of 2015, its wholesale price will be appx $72,374.

*Caveat: market, geographical location and economic conditions may have a minor or major affect in the value from State-to-State

Tigers are VERY tempting for us, however, (and everyone's situation will differ), a Tiger (or, a B+, C or Class A) would mean a lot of capital tied-up in a vehicles dedicated strictly to RVing ( ie. we couldn't use the vehicle easily to go to the movies, grocery shopping, carrying earth/mulch for gardening, or bags of cement for the homestead; nor for visiting relatives in the big city {parking would be too expensive compared with an un-laden pick-up} )

I have thought about asking them to turn my Super Duty into a Tiger but with DW's claustrophobia it would look pretty funny towing HER TT down the road!!! :B

Congratulations! I know you'll like it. Heck, I _still_ smile when I look out the back door and see mine after all these years. And people still come up to me to ask about it when I stop. I genuinely like the improvements that Mark (new company owner) has made in Dave Rowe's original design.

Somebody asked up-thread about how they get the Ford cab off for repairs. Ford just _prefers_ that way for some repairs, but it's not the only way they can be done. (Just tossing that in, I know yours will be built on a Chevy.)
