Thermostat Changeout

I know that this subject has come up several times, but I would like a little additional advice.

I have a two year old Forest River trailer with a very poor quality thermostat. I have wanted to do a change out since I got it, but I not having great electrical knowledge, was always a little intimidated about doing it.

The time has come, to get it done. the current thermostat is a Dometic (model #3107546) Can anybody advise me as to what make and model of thermostat they have used as a replacement. I want to go to a digital unit. As well, any type of explanation or diagram of the install would be fantastic. Thank you for your help in advance.

Thanks for the links, Wiscampsin. l like the write up in the 3rd one, and the whole thread following is a good read.

My goal is to get a programmable unit since I want the system to automatically ramp up at say 5:00AM and then 'slow down' at 11:00 PM - bid of set and forget operation. At first I was also wanting auto changeover but choices are limited and cost is high. I do want to retain the Hi-Low fan capability living here in the South.

Looking forward to a good discussion here. Shout out to the OP - l lived in Saint John for many years working at the Shipyard there. Moncton is a cool place and we visited it occasionally.

I used the instructions from the link on LAdams' profile page, here. Found it to be very helpful, even though I'm not electrically inclined either.
