But you have to add a separate switch to control A/C fan speeds.

Is it worth it?

No question about it. Temperature control is much tighter than with any stock bi-metal thermo.

So the furnace must turn off and on more frequently to maintain a more constant temperature?

One other advantage for some of us Canadians would be to get a Centigrade scale I suppose.

Don't think a remote is in our future. There are too many of them floating around the trailer already.;)

The issue I have is that they do not sell the HUNTER brand in Canada. So I am (and probably others in Canada) looking for GOOD alternatives..
I have seen about two comments in this forum that Honeywell is not recommended..

That "24 volt" reference is to typical home heating situations which are commonly 24 volt ac and has absolutely nothing to do with your trailer's 12 volt dc system. Good grief! :S

Since you're here in Canada as I am where many products common to US consumers aren't available the solution is simple ... just head to your local Home Depot and spend $50 on this Honeywell Non-Programmable Thermostat that will work perfectly for controlling the furnace and/or air conditioner in your camper and which is particularly easy to use as it features a backlit display that lights up whenever you push the temp control buttons.

You don't have to buy a Hunter. Any battery operated digital, including that one, is fine. The other posters aren't reading carefully.

I have a Lux w/remote and it's real nice.

I took a look at my spec. sheet....re: the unit I referenced above. Mine says: Specifications: Electrical Rating: - 24 VAC (18 to 30 VAC). It works just fine so maybe the one you are considering will be good also.

Hmmmmmm "This thermostat could be used on single stage furnaces and air conditioners including 24-Volt."
does NOT say it can only be used on 24V systems.
I would contact the Manufacturer.

FWIW MOST electronic thermostats have a couple of AA batteries to keep the clock going.
