Tire defect?

Before loading my truck camper, I was standing around waiting on the SO to bring my keys, and while picking the rocks out of the treads (JK), I noticed a concave area in the sidewall, perpendicular to the rim. So, I looked at the other tires. Both rear tires, inflated to 80 PSI, had the spot. After loading the camper, I noticed it in the front tires, 76 PSI, as well. One of the front tires has the concave spot in two places, about 4" apart. Is this normal? A by-product of the production process?
Pics are the same rear tire, different angles, with my truck bed completely empty. You can see the spot I'm talking about just before the "A" in All Terrain, intersecting the area where the arrow shape (formed in the sidewall) comes to a point. The tires are LT285/65R-18 Goodyear Wrangler A/T Adventure with Kevlar.

One of those craiglists dealers the old man could not pass up. 2 XPS ribs for $150. Old man put about 10k on them on his 2009 than sold the truck and bought a 2013. Guess who ended up with all his deals for the old truck. I still got about 40k out of the tire before it was removed from the truck.

Seen those indentations many times but don't remember it being that close to the tread.

^^^^ Now that is a bulge, that is something you definitely don't want to see. Dimples are fine though.

Never caused me a problem when my tires looked like that. Why arent you talking to a tire dealer or the manufacturer about what you think might be a defect???????:S

That's where the belts overlap to form the circular shape of the tire, and isn't anything to worry about.

Sidewall indents are normal.
Sidewall bulges are bad.

I doubt my own judgement, sometimes. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. I bought the wheels and tires from Tire Rack about 9 months ago, and I've been second guessing that decision. I saved a bit of dough buying on-line and putting them on, myself. Plus, I knew the wheels would be torqued to spec. However, I often buy pricier items locally through authorized dealers. Contributing to the local economy and having a fall-back guy makes me feel better about spending the extra money. Tire Rack seems to be reputable, but...
Another thing I've noticed, is a bucking/surge at about 43 MPH. Accelerating, decelerating or constant throttle, it doesn't seem to matter. Is that "Porpoising", or a tire out of balance? I thought Porpoising was caused by a road induced oscillation, so that bucking/surge concerns me, too.
Thanks for the re-assurance on the divots.

I personally don't like this myself, however, odd as it may seem, this is safe and OK. It's bulges that should make you take notice.

Anyway, its not caused by the steel bands that hold the tires to the pallet. That's a tire dealer I would run away from. Tire Rack some good info on this. Their whole "tire tech" section is very accurate and easy to read.

It's funny what tire dealers will say... I was told it's where the steel band was to hold the tires onto the pallet when they are shipped. Didn't believe it for a minute.

Anyway, didn't seem to affect the tire. Have seen it on others.

Yes, I was told that is where re-enforcement material over laps. (Doesn't mean it's a fact or not, just what I was told with same looking tire)
