Tires: Maxxis Not Available. Plan B?

Sidewalls on my Maxxis M8008's are developing cracks, so time for new rubber.

Would love to go with Maxxis again, had great experience with these and they get good reviews here. Problem is, I can't find any in the Denver area. According to Discount Tire, they are on "indefinate backorder". Whatever.

What I can find at several shops is the Goodyear Marathons and the Carlisle Trail RH. My size is 225/75-15D. Also came across Taskmaster Provider ST, but I never heard of these before.

If I have to go with plan B, which is the better choice?

Aren't they already warranteed by Maxxis?

If you only put the air pressure in them that the D's were rated for you'll be safe. If you want to go higher in pressure up to what the E's are rated for, then you'd need to verify your rims can handle it. You shouldn't need more pressure than you used before.

I am certain he meant Road hazard warranty which no tire maker gives.

At discounttiredirect all I can find are the E rated Maxxis in 225/75-15s? Are the D's discontinued?

Second question, will I need to upgrade wheels for the E's?

Like Sandiaman said try Discounttiredirect. Shipping is free and no tax. Have Discount tire mount and balance for $19 per tire.

if you go to the website and order them one option is for them to be delivered directly to a nearby Discount/Americas tire and the web price will include mounting and balancing.

We heard the same thing from one of our local Discount Tire dealers, they tried to push their higher profit margin junk on us but we wouldn't bite. Went online to DiscountTireDirect.com and ordered them. They were delivered to my front door via UPS in a 3 days for free. Loaded them up and took our rig to the nearest Discount Tire and had them balanced, warrantied, and installed.

I'm getting ready to put Maxxis on my trailer here in Moab, Utah. Chip's Tire has them in stock. Maybe have him send you some via UPS.

I would trust the newer Marathons made in the last year far more than the initial trial of build to spec in China that has given many people grief.

Otherwise my next tires will be Maxxis. No plan B.

I agree... Maxxis is the only way to go. Gonna continue shopping around and see if Discount can order me a set.

The more I read, the more I am turned off by Marathons and Carlisles. Seeshh..

Discount Tire in Prescott, AZ had to order mine but I didn't mind waiting. Maxxis tires are the only brand I'll run, my first set went 12 years problem free. I would go to the Maxxis website and find another dealer in your area.

Dealers routinely claim they are on "backorder" so they can push their own brand. Don't fall for it.
Someone posted the same thing a while back in my area. I called the place I bought mine from and they said no problem.

If I absolutely could not get them I would go to 16" wheels and get some good LT tires.
