Tongue jack is slanted. Suggestions on how to deal with it?

I have a 2004 Jayco Jay Flight that I bought used a couple seasons ago. I replaced the manual tongue jack with an electric one. It works, but it is slanted back towards the camper and not straight up and down. I uninstalled it and reinstalled the manual jack and found that it is also slanted, but it is not as noticeable since it is shorter. Also, the higher I raise the camper, the more obvious it is that the jack is slanted (see photos below)

When I install the jack, it slides down through the top hole, and then it goes through a second hole in a plate underneath. It seems like those two holes aren't quite lined up.

Looking for recommendations from the group. Am I doing something wrong? Should I rest the jack on a big block so it doesn't have to extend so far?

Thanks!

You sure your tongue isn't bent a little?

If you level your rv and put a bubble level in the fridge and one on tongue, do they both show the same?

The atv trailer I built was like that.
I cut the bottom plate off and then straighten the top one using a strap and a come along.

Once it was straight I out it back together and welded the bottom plate back where it should be.
Couple hours and it was done. Super easy.

I fixed it because it put a lot of pressure on the gears to raise it and didn't want them to wear out prematurely.
Angle grinder and a welder. Bam done.

I use a 8 x 8 block. As far as the jack you may use some washer to slant it the other way.

Yeah, looks like the two plates are misaligned from the start..

Seeing that it's now 12 years old, you can either live with it or get it fixed.. 😉

Really, the only bad thing is that it looks kinda funny, and probably does not come straight down when you try to hitch it up..

It could also cause some additional wear on the screw gear, because of the angle, but who knows?

It's a simple repair if you have access to a plasma cutter and a mig welder.. 🙂

Good luck!
