Total loss

Major badluck on Tuesday, I was waiting in trafic during a white out 60 miles from home. There was no one behind me so I knew I was vulnerable. Then sure enough, out of the blizzard came this tiny car going way too fast. We know how parts or pizza delivery people drive. My exceptional truck is probably a total loss (axle was pushed forward so driveshaft pushed into the transfer case which is cracked). But most importantly, I am not injured.

If someone could guide me, I'd like to post a photo or a link to a photo of the aftermath.

Let's try one more time.

What do you think would have happened to that little car if it had cleared you, which it looks like almost did?

The irony of it, rushing do deliver parts. That's how the system works.

How many Km on it when it was wrecked?

420,000 (261,000 miles), of which 120,000 (75k miles) were done in the last 11 months hauling RVs. A good portion is highway driving light.

Thanks for the advice. I saw my chyropractor yesterday, as pain appeared the day after. He advised me to go to my doctor as well.

Glad you are okay, but do agree to have yourself checked out to both
record/date stamp that visit and to see if there is hidden stuff

Know you smiley'd this, but a most prudent thing to do

Personal experience, family, buddies, news and knowing many in the
medical field...soft tissue injury is one of the toughest to both
diag and treat...which may manifest itself a long while later

Such a shame...anyone can be 100% NOT at fault, but suffer from
someone else's mistake(s)

When in my twenties...had a similar situation where the trooper
stopped a bunch of us and YELLED for us to get off the pavement and
onto the shoulder *AND* TURN OFF YOUR LIGHTS !!!

Asked him a bit later and he taught me that folks driving who shouldn't,
going too fast and then because they are over driving their line of
sight...look for tail lights...to then run into them...even if they
are sitting off the pavement

Stick to your guns on what you think your truck was worth. Remind the Insurance adjuster that the person hitting you was at fault!

I would not be so quick to say you are not hurt!

I was rear ended by a Honda Pilot I was sitting still in my 98 RAM like yours and she was doing 30. I had a severe whiplash and to this day m neck is still not good at all.

Her airbag did not go off and the shoulder harness broke her sternum.

She hit me dead on the rear bumper and the only damage to my truck was that hitch, bumper and the frame where the hitch attaches. I absorbed the impact! No crumple zine is not a good thing. Her brand new Pilot was totaled.

Sucks when that happens. My dad lost his Cougar late last year to an accident. Wasn't that bad but with 200K miles, didn't take much to total it. Glad nobody was injured. Time to start truck shopping.

Glad you are all OK. That is a real bummer!!!

That is one of issues with having a great older TV. You are now forced to find another TV, new are expensive and if used you need to be able to find one that is as good as the old.

Make sure you fight to get FULL value for your truck.
