Trailer Weight Explained

Followed Rons weight guide posted a couple of years ago. Got 3 weights, truck alone, trailer hooked up with w/d bars hooked, trailer hooked up bars off. These are the weights. the trailer weights are 8100#, tongue weight is 1050#, load transferred with w/d bars amounts to 20#. The 1500 Dodge Ram goes down about 1 1/2 inch. I had the Firestone airbags with 10lbs of air.

It squats about 1 1/2 inch. Airbags have 10 lbs each. Talked to equalizer hitch co in Salt Lake. Told him what last shop did to hitch. They took out washers, only three now and the equalizer bars are not doing much. Tech in salt lake said it should have at least 5 washer so that would put a lot of pressure on the stabilizer bars. Am taking back to a different shop, hope they can fix. Should be a lot more than 20 lbs transferred.

I suspect if you have 8000 pound TT with over 1000 pounds of TW, your front axle lost about 400 pounds. You'll want to restore all of that, which will transfer closer to 200 pounds to the TT axles.

Yeah, we need more data. I read that as the front is 20# heavier than unloaded..

20# transferred is no where near enough and depending on what you and your family weigh your ram 1500 may be over payload ratings. My 2014 ram 1500 had a 1220 lb payload rating so with your trailer one adult would max out the truck!!

From your subject line, I thought you were going to make it simple like this:
