truck is sitting lower than it used to with TT hitched up

My 2000 Silverado squats down much lower in the rear than it used to with my travel trailer hitched to it. When I first noticed it, I adjusted my load bars one chain link and that seemed to help. But now, it is squatting even lower than before. It is the same travel trailer loaded basically the same way so the weight has not increased. What's going on here?

Do the shocks have anything to do with how much the truck sags when I hitch up the camper? Would replacing the shocks help?

Not at all. The springs control how much the truck moves up and down; the shocks control how quickly that movement occurs. Replacing the shocks won't help the issue you're asking about.

Check the truck receiver, I bet the tube has sprung and the receiver is twisted up instead of straight out causing the spring bar chains to carry less weight...

Try to see if any of the leaves in the spring pack have fractured. Had a buddy whose truck did that and had the same symptoms. Different brand, but that doesn't matter.

Maybe your leaf springs have sagged?
