After reading about the new Jayco 338rets here and seeing pictures on the Jayco website the DW and I were anxious for some dealers locally to get some in so we could see for ourselves. We have the 308rets and we are looking for a similar design but with a larger bedroom. The 338 looked to be perfect. Finally, we were able to inspect one first-hand. Once again, the "engineers" have managed to put the satellite/cable TV jack on the right side up by the door so you have a cable running thru your site; the outside shower is cleverly placed directly under the city water hookup (about exactly where most people have the inline filter); the valve for one grey water tank is tucked directly under the bedroom slide and the other two are easily accessible; the 2 door pantry is narrow but deep insuring that you have to remove everything to get the one item in the back (slide out shelves would fix this)and interior shelves are NBA high. These issues plus 3 visible build flaws plus the unit is $13k more expensive than the 308 we bought 2 years ago equals a "no sale".

Good point, the one I just bought is that way, I never noticed it.

Actually though thinking bout it, I would not be sitting out if it was cold enough for the furnace and I spend most of my camping in Mexico. The hot water heater I woudl be runnign of A/C when possible and even on propane it hardly ever fires up.

My main beef it slides blocking access to baths etc. I would rather have a foot less so I could at last squeeze by. Also why don't they offer an inverter and split all the outlets so 1/2 are shore and the other half inverter output. My old RV was that way. It was great. All RV's are compromises, but they still do things they could avoid.

Also my fresh water tank fill is on the opposite side to the city water fill and other services. I suspect I will be running some pex across the underside with fittings at each end. I hardly ever use the direct hookup, I always fill the tank and use the internal pump. It is the best way to discover a leak before it does damage

The thing that gets me is, Why do they put the furnace on the curb side, and sometimes the water heater? All that exhaust collects under the awning... My furnace is right next to the door.

I looked at Jayco Greyhawk mohos when I was shopping for a motorhome some years ago and I was stumped at some of the engineering on the outside components. We loved the interior, but the illogical placement of certain things on the outside made it a no sales for us. We bought a Winnebago.

Buyt a Keystone Outback. Problems solved! Everything on our model is in the right location for us .... ESPECIALLY the television, awning completely outside the slide area, hook ups, and storage!

You've just described nearly every new towable RV I see each year at the Hershey show.

I love all these floorplans with a 90 degree to all seating television. Granted, you don't go camping to watch TV, but there has been those rainy days where there isn't much to do. I did find a nice Jayco HT FW with the TV across from the couch!

Ok so its an RV and RV = CHEESY. Whats new. Just joking but you make me laugh as I've been working on a 2000 coachmen 5er that we just bought. Its been stored inside and in excellent condition but it has an almost endless list of little "boogers" that need to be addressed. I'm always telling my wife about this stuff so I now take her out there and make her crawl up in the basement and show her how easy it is for mice to get in. HECK squirrels can get in. lol I also looked at new Jayco's and couldn't bring myself to spend $35,000 and do the same thing I'm doing to this one. New truck, used RV.

After much searching for our trailer, KZ-RV had some of the best floor plans and logical uses of spaces. Our little Coyote Lite CL164 (single axle and 21.5 ft in length including the hitch frame) is the best floor plan out there and many people comment on it for being so spacious for a little trailer.
