Tundra HD

After seeing some internet rumors about HD Tundras, some with Cummins V8 diesels, DRWs, etc, I'm wondering: Do you know anything official from Toyota? Do you have a link?

I have been hearing those HD Tundra rumors for about 5 years now. I haven't seen anything to make me believe that they are offering a heavier duty truck. I couldn't wait any longer, had to sell my Tundra and pick up a heavier truck for my new camper.

I watched a video on the Cummins V8 and two negatives stood out to me - it uses a CP4 injection pump and it has a timing chain instead of a gear setup.

Other than those issues it's a really appealing powerplant that offers plenty of power and probably pretty good fuel economy. Those issues would give me pause, though.

Google 5.0 Cummins V8 Toyota and you will find a number of reports that state it will be offered in 2016. I am almost positive I read a formal announcement in the past, but can't find it now. All the articles seem to be from early 2014.

I've not seen anything solid about a HD Toyota, just the Nissan. The regular Tundra is among the lighter half tons so it would take some big changes to massage it into a true HD model.

It's been discussed cause there has been some hopes that they will make a 3/4 ton truck. Have never seen any articles to say for sure just rumors out there. Somebody might have more info, if so hope they share. With the new Nissan with diesel coming out, that may prompt Toyota to make one but who knows.
